i can only see that logic if acorn only registers black people which they don;t.

Plus I would like to point out there are more hispanics living under the poverty line in this country then black people.

see what i mean, I didn't make this thread to question each other's views. but you just can't help it, just like I know the great depression comment was to point out that not only blacks were poor then. you're so transparent. as rimrocker has pointed out, stop trying to derail the thread.

    thanks

i am not doing that. I guess i am questioning how you came to that view but i thought that was the point.

to me it seems you only care about poor black people. which is fine.

when did I say that, did i say i see things in terms of race so I don't care about other races??? did i even say I only care about issues that affect only black people????

you make those assumptions which is ridiculous.

i made it based on the fact you see an attack on ACORN as keeping black people from voting.

Let me see if this sticks:

You saw how badly people like your father were treated in the past so your politcal views on certain issues are motivated by getting people of the same race today any possible advantage.

I will say this however to try and get the thread back on topic somewhat, I went to a small black catholic school from 1st to 8th which catered to a poor community and I virtually knew no white kids my age. my first encounter with whites was at high school, which was a private catholic school so the first whites I encountered on a day to day basis were upper middle class and up. now at the time that shaped my view on race/economics but then going to school in Austin I began to realize (which I never really though consciously) that not all white people had wealth

Let’s see, grew up in an Air Force family who’s dad did 25 years in the service (brother did 10 years AF). During that time family lived in several different countries (Spain, Africa, Italy), and all over the states. This exposed me to tons of new places, ideas, cultures and people. Father was/is staunchly conservative (as is most military men) and of course, me being a rebellious youth with a penchant for the theater (and at the time mind-altering chemicals), rebelled from the conservative ideology to find my own path.

Was a staunch independent (never registered with a political party) until this year’s primary (felt it was too important to sit on the sidelines any more).

well thanks for the zero effort. I think i explained my problems understanding specifically and was just attacked and accused of having some underlying motive like i care about scoring points here.

you don't want to understand my beliefs, you want to challenge them, there are plenty other threads for that

you only took issue with mine even though mine weren't the only race related, what am i supposed to believe

i took issue with your because you started the race theme since it was in your first post. I used yours as an example because of this.

I didn't mean to single you out personally just you were the OP.

also I do want to understand. read the tone of my 2nd-5th post in here compared to yours. I was on my best behavior you were taking little jabs and snips which i never countered.

I find it odd that The Simpson's had episodes with Bush I and episodes of Clinton, but have never placed Bush II in any episodes in the past 8 years.

It has shaped me quite a bit.

    Good point.

Probably because those guys were funny somewhat.

While Bush 2 is moreso tragic.
