The thing is, if you believe that this team has been collecting assets for a big move, which I think is pretty obvious, then its hard to argue against the notion that Morey may have dropped the ball, here. The truth is, a lot of our assets' values have plummeted because they've been sitting on the bench, which kills any value they might have had when acquired. Does it make sense to trade a future first round pick for Terrence Williams? Not if he's just going to ride pine, it doesn't. It's a fascinating situation to me, because I think it could be a sign that communication between management, coaches, and players isn't where it needs to be at this time. It's not just him, either. Chase has been exposed this year when he should have been better protected or shipped earlier, 2Pat's and Jordan's spots in the rotation seems to change from night to night, inconsistent at best, and Ish is in a worse spot than Terrence is, although probably rightly so, given the fact that he's the most unseasoned of all of our young guns. Other guys, like Aaron, Shane, Jared to a certain extent, and maybe even Kevin, have been held on to for too long. Selling high is maybe more important that trying to find uber-steals in this league. Couple all of that with the long held idea that Morey isn't other GM's favorite trading partner, and it's entirely possible that Morey shot himself in the foot, this time. If that's the case, then I guess the question becomes: Where do the Rockets go from here?
As I have said in the past our team will be the same team we had yesterday. No moves are going to be made. If there was a move made, it would have been made by now.
We should have been playing all the young guys from the start. Maybe some of our "assets" would have had a better season by this time, thus their stock would be higher. But thats all one theory.
