It'll be great. with yao and mcgrady gone, thats 42 million off the boooks. we'll go after bosh and joe jhonson. Brooks JJ Battier Bosh Scola Bench lowry Ariza Budinger Landry Hayes That would be nasty
I doubt Yao would want to leave the Rockets. If he did opted out it would be the benefit for the Rockets. The Rockets organization is a great place to be.
No chance in hell yao is giving up 16 mil. If he did I would try to find some non injury prone players.
If all the members on Clutchfans start fund we may be able to raise 16 million and pay him to opt out.
Everyone is saying they don't want Yao on this team. Is this some knee jerk reaction to us performing well so early in the season? Reasons why Yao leaving would be bad: 1. No Yao = no big name to lure superstars with. Why would Joe Johnson / Lebron James / Dwayne Wade come to the Rockets, when their respective teams are just as good? (Especially in the East) 2. No Yao = loss of fans = loss of revenue by the Rockets' Organization due to no one buying Yao jerseys. Not many people are going to buy Budinger or Landry's jersey. 3. No Yao = no inside presence. You guys see the Dallas game? Nowitzki had his way with us. Hell, every member on the floor for the Mavs seemed to have their way with us. Although it was a good Mavs team, wait until we face the Lakers again, or Cleveland with Shaq, and Orlando with Dwight. Andersen won't be able to stop those big guys defensively.
Who will play for us? Trevor Ariza only came to us because he could prove himself. The big names that are in the pool for next year's free agency have already proven themselves. They need a championship team. The Rockets sans TMac and Yao are NOT a championship team. No big name will play for this team if we don't have a big name to lure them with. Why would Lebron James come here, when it is easier to get to the Playoffs in the East?
1.What Super star would want to play with Yao only to see him go down during the season or playoffs. 2.We survived before the Yao era and the organization has proven it doesn't need Yao to win. 3.So we get another big man that costs less than 16 mil per.
if Yao opted out will could do some damage next summer with morey some moves. 42 mill off the books... Plus LBJ said all he wants to do is win.. sign Bosh and LBJ and we got ourselves another championship
I love these people who think that without Yao we have no fans. L f-in O L You guys realize the ROckets were a team with fans long before Yao and they will be a team with fans after Yao. This website got its rep LONG before Yao was even a thought in anyone's mind on this side of the pacific. As far as Im concerned, if you think that Yao is all the Rockets are, then I wont miss you when you are gone.
Wow. 7 games in the new season and you guys have forgotten everything Yao has done for this organization in the 7 years since he's been here. Dude's a class act and showed that he has a even bigger heart than his 7'5'' frame in the last year's playoffs, but you guys can't wait to see him gone. To answer OP's question, What if Yao opted out? Good for him, but he's not gonna find a better deal anywhere else in the league. Morey will find a way to bring talent in this team, Yao or not. Let's worry about this next summer.
Joe johnson would come here because the rockets are still big name franchise and he has a chance to lead a very promising young team. 2. we'e survived before without yao. we had the 5th biggest franchise prior to drafting yao. we'll survive after yao anf YOF's like you leave. 3. the days of 7 footers clogging the lane are over. the league is becoming more mobile and agile. plus dwights a beast noone is going to stop him once he hit's he's prime. shaq however is inished and will retier soon
This. Get a solid 7' starting center along with a superstar wing and we'll definitely become instant contenders if we manage to keep the majority of the roster intact. Unfortunately, the reality is Yao will not opt out and I dont blame him. He would be crazy to do so.
i am afraid only bosh and lbj ain't enough. plus lbj have said more than once that all he wants is to become the richest athlete in the world. so how about some insurance? let's sign - cp3 at the 1 joe johnson at the 2 lbj at the 3 bosh at the 4 dh at the 5 there, you have a dynasty.
