I can't believe there's 7 pages of debate on this subject. You have to draft Scoot at #2. We don't have a point guard; we have a shooting guard who has been pushed into the role and hasn't gotten better at it. Shooting guards are a dime a dozen in the NBA and nothing suggests that KPJ is worth holding on to at the expense of a potentially generational point guard. You'd think that we hadn't lost 75% of our games the last three seasons by reading this thread!
Sorry, I'm in-between the KPJ haters and the KPJ stans on this one. KPJ does have value around the league, it's just not a whole lot of value over contract. I think you can probably get something for him from another team, even if it's just a late first round/early second round pick, or like-for-like swap for another player who is worth his contract plus a bit more and may be miscast or logjammed on his current team. Once again, the realistic position here is neither "KPJ is a completely worthless player" nor "KPJ is the point guard of the future for the Rockets! Star in the making!" He's just a decent player with some flaws on a somewhat team-friendly contract. Now, if you want to talk about Scoot, you're talking a prospect who is instantly in the top 15 most valuable trade assets in the entire league due to how much scouts prize his entire kit plus value over contract. So yeah, that's approximately umpteen-times more valuable than KPJ. And I expect he will also be the better NBA player in very short order--like within maybe half a season or so of development & adjustment.
All you can likely get is a 2nd round pick for KPJ, likelihood is that pick won't be anywhere as talented as KPj. I'd still rather see him at least mentally tested in a green lit 6th man role(as if that's punishment) before throwing him away and there's definitely fit if he can prove he can be a catch and shoot 3 and D player with Harden at point, but without a current pg, it's hard to experiment and see him in that role early on(Alpi at pg or at least give TyTY some run). He can be good at the role, but when i say prove, i wonder if he can let go of the head honcho expectations for himself which has been delusional rather than confident. I mean he was calling himself "Franchise" day 1 post arrival when he should have just been thankful he was getting another chance to stay in the NBA after the Cleveland situation following his college situation. It's not confident. It's not cocky. It's delusions of grandeur. Grandiosity is common in many mental health related issues. It could lead to another meltdown or he has matured and will thrive in whatever role the new coach will ask of him. You have to test with trails to find out before giving up on the talent and person. Looking back now..Silas did exactly what i would expect a person like himself would do..just give KPj whatever he wanted and the keys to his home and a schedule of when his wife is home alone.
Fixed for better trolling: Easy, bring Jalen off the bench, move Nix to the 2 and have Henderson at the 1. KPJ to G-League.
Isn't it interesting that Detriot has the same problem and they drafted not one BUT two PGs in Ivey and Cunningham who everyone here wanted AND they are still having PG issues. Just goes to show you the PG Position is not easy! Leave KPJ alone, draft Miller and get a competent coach. People said the same things about Ivey, his highlights mirrored Ivey. Cunningham was deemed a do it all franchise type player....WHERE ARE THE NOW? The Rockets do have plenty SF/PF but none that can shoot. We need SHOOTERS at the Forward positions and LENGTH at the Center position

Cade is averaging 20, 6, and 6 at age 21 in Detroit and very much looking like their future franchise point guard, my dude. Ivey is a rookie and is nowhere near the level of prospect of Cade or Scoot, but he's playing well too. So basically I have no idea wtf you're on about. Are you trying to argue that point guards are automatically bad draft picks or something? Because that's a pretty wild take if so
Cade outside of his injury concern along with Ivey are doing fine. Man why do people think every rookie needs to have Lebron and Luka type impact joining the league?
I agree that people's expectations are too high for 2nd and 3rd picks. Not every draft has a superstar, and even fewer have more than 1. There aren't three all-NBA guys coming in every draft.
And superstars aren't always superstars the moment they enter the league. The 2021 class has potential to have 3-5 guys make at least one all -nba team. I could see Giddey, Green, Mobley, Barnes, Wagner, Sengun or Cade making at least one all NBA team some point in their careers. All those guys have the talent to do so.
Jabari and Tari can shoot and of late are proving it. Just because Cade and Ivey are having issues doesn’t mean that KPJ isn’t or that Scoot will. Miller imploded on the big stage and isn’t half the defensive player Jabari and Tari are. Walker on the other hand is a phenomenal defensive player with a good shot and incredible work ethic and can play 4-5 where Miller is probably only capable at 3 on the defensive side of the ball and has demonstrated big time character issues.
KPJ is worth a try as a six man. He could probably be a starting SG for another team, but he is blocked here by Jalen. KPJ is not a SF except when using a small ball line-up off the bench. I don’t hate KPJ or even want him traded if he can keep his head on straight and be put in a position to succeed by a competent coach.
KPJ will have to give up his “head honcho” role. A new competent HC will want a vet true point guard and possibly another from the draft (thinking Scoot Henderson or Cason Wallace). Where will KPJ get his time? At the 2, are there enough minutes to share with Green? The new competent HC will also be sitting KPJ (and others) who mail in their defensive effort. Next year might be a complete **** show until the defensive end gets worked out. KPJ’s temperament will be tested early and often. Giving the problems that he has had on every team that he been on …
U draft the best pg prospect to fill in the place of need and worry about the log jam afterwards. We don't have a pg, tyty remains to be seen and kpj isn't a pg. If we have a logjam u can then trade. Running it back with kpj and hope he turns into a competent pg isn't worth the risk/time of missing out on an actual good pg. If tyty is good enough to b the starting pg or we have enough game sample that points in that direction, i would have been more likely to draft someone else. It's just too risky to bank on unknown tyty and kpj to become the pg we need
