Offensively you are correct the real issue is on the defensive end. Does Sengun play C on defense? He will have a big problem at PF in today’s game. Wemby at Pf and Bari at SF might work, but they will have to get exponentially better at help defense. Also not sure Wemby can play defense on the perimeter.

Me neither but if he's projected as the next Lebron level player, he should be able to, otherwise, they need to drop the hype.

I'm just fine with getting Scoot and moving some players around if we don't get Wemby. Scoot is a beast. This lineup with a new EXPERIENCED coaching staff should be able to put wins on the board and get to the play-in. My guess is 10th seed.
    (#) = year in league

PG - Scoot Henderson (R) / TyTy Washington Jr. (2)
    SG - Jalen Green (3) / Kevin Porter Jr. (5) (6th man)
SF - Tari Eason (2) / Kenyon Martin Jr. (4)
    PF - Jabari Smith Jr (2) / Jae'Sean Tate (4)
    ..C - Alperen Sengun (3) / Usman Garuba (3)

Still in need of another 6-11" plus banger inside.

So basically what the Bulls offered the Rockets for Sampson?

The clips I have seen make me skeptical. He is not as fluid as Mobley, just a lot bigger/longer. I'm oddly really out on Wemby.

That's what Portland offered. Bulls were #3 pick that year.

    You take Henderson at #2.

He just turned 19 last month.

He has already grown over an inch since last season and is 6’3” with a wingspan of 6’9” or larger.

He would be the leader on the Rockets, and would set the tone.

Yep, I couldn't be more all-in on Scoot at #2. Don't read too much into his G-League stats, it's tougher than NCAA and he was super young for the league, and it was also an injury-plagued season for him (but not in a way that's concerning for long-term durability IMO, just nickel-and-dime stuff).

The upside here is CP3's competitive attitude and feel for the game mixed with Russell Westbrook's athleticism and finishing ability at the rim. He's the clear-cut #2, and in my opinion it's not close.

Maybe, I don't know about that. Was Sampson considered a generational talent?

If Wembanyama has an impact like LBJ or even Duncan, it's a bit of a no-brainer to me. And I like Green very much btw. It's just the only realistic offer I can imagine one is willing to trade for what is seen as the most important nr. 1 in years. Obviously, it's not rocket science - no pun intended - and things could go very wrong (look at Oden), but as an organisation you should take the gamble imo.

Just bring Scoot off the bench. He is a rookie. He can still get good minutes. if he outperforms kpj as the season goes on, then we know what we need to do

Or just trade KPJ off to greener pastures (another team where he can, most likely, play a 6th man type of role) and get something back for him.

Personally I wouldn't even waste time bringing Scoot off the bench. I'm sure he'd be willing to do it behind an established player, but he'll need the reps, and he'll most likely be better than KPJ by the end of his rookie season anyway.

I suspect that KPJ has little or no trade value.

Lol o don’t think any team values KPj as much as the Rockets org do/did. Team might do it for the salary dump but then we’ll have to take back salary. The easiest way for the rockets to move on from KPJ will be termination

I'm of the thinking that the Rockets should draft B. Miller and with their 2nd pick, Derrick Lively or Kris Murray. Rather than bringing in another PG, I think they need a veteran backup PG to help KPJ. Our bench is sorely lacking leadership and veteran presence.

I like our backcourt as is and I think next yr they will be better with the RIGHT coach and VETERAN PG. The Rockets need more shooting and frontcourt length.

If you draft second then it is obviously Scoot. He is a true PG with franchise upside. KPJ could improve, but he will never have the upside of Scoot. If Stone passes on Scoot for Miller, because he wants KPJ to be the starting PG he should be fired immediately. We are already deep at SF and PF. We desperately need a PG whether it be Scoot or via trade/FA. I’d much rather get Walker than Miller if we don’t get the 2nd pick.

Isn't it interesting that Detriot has the same problem and they drafted not one BUT two PGs in Ivey and Cunningham who everyone here wanted AND they are still having PG issues. Just goes to show you the PG Position is not easy!

Leave KPJ alone, draft Miller and get a competent coach.

You’re right the PG position is not easy. Do you think Detroit would trade Cade straight up for KPJ. Hell no, they wouldn’t. I doubt they would trade Ivey straight up for KPJ. KPJ is not a PG. He just isn’t.
