Henderson is on another planet as a prospect. KPJ is better because he's actually in the league. But that won't last long.
Its just a speculation and hype that has to be generate every draft. Every year we have those guys and every year 99% of them turn out not so good, with some random #19 picks turning out beasts. Scoot is undersized athletic guard with no threepoint shot, one badly twisted ankle or a knee and guy doesnt exist
Scoot is shooting 35% from three this season. He's come a long way. The tremendous progress from last season shows he's working hard to develop his shot and it's paying off. I wouldn't really call him undersized either. They're now listing him at 6'4", don't know how accurate that is, but in any case as of his last measurements he had a 6'9" wingspan. His size is good for a point guard.
While that's true, I'd like to see them play off of one another. With Henderson at the 1, KPJ would actually have someone on the court that could generate catch and shoot 3's for him, something he's elite at. Also if Henderson continues his 3 point shooting from the G league this season, KPJ would finally have a competent shooting guard out on the court with him which would give spacing a boost. That said, I'm going to need to see a MUCH larger sample than 17 3 point attempts to say that Scoot has fixed his 3 point shot. Either way, with a legitimate second ball handling guard on the court, it would be fun to watch.
KPJ is not a point guard. Scoot is so I would expect him to be one for us. An argument could be made that Green should be 6th man and KPJ play the 2 guard however I do not see the organization relegating their other number 2 overall pick to the bench in year 3. So that leaves KPJ to be 6th man. I guess he could play the 3 position some however if he has any attitude whatsoever about no longer being the "Head Honcho" then he should be cut the very same day.
35% on 17 shots doesn't cut it for an undersized guard. As for measurements - Jalen Green was advertised as 6'6 bare footed and that boy came looking 6'3-6'4 so there are your measurements. We have to understand it's hype and agents work to make us believe every of this kids are superstars and while he surely has a talent he isn't looking nearly as skilled as Kyrie to be efficient as the undersized scorer, nor the shooter to make up for it with the range. He is a good playmaker but is that really needed with Sengun and possibly Harden on the team? If we don't draft Wembanyama i would trade either the pick or the KPJ because there's just no room for another 'young but talented' boy on our roster if we want to win. Remember we still have Jabari, Eason, Garuba, TyTy.... our new pick would be just new shiny toy. Jabari was one too and now he shoots 20% from 3
KPJ's return makes us a better team, but let's not get delusional here. Playing against an opponent with a coach who understands how and why to tank is what won us those last two games.
You obviously haven't seen Henderson this year. He's not a non shooter or undersized for a point either
I'm shipping Green out. Move KPJ back to the 2 where he always belonged. I'm not keeping the player with a 6'7 wingspan unless he's just an insane 3pt shooter ala Ray Allen or Curry.
KPJ seems like a lot more like loyalty type guy. Jalen seems like the kind that would leave at the drop of the hat for a Hollywood career I wouldn’t be quick to try to trade or get rid of him just because we draft Henderson or Harden comes back
Hard disagree. He may not be a great point guard, but I do believe that both his ball handling and his court vision have improved. Both of those skills will make him a much more dangerous player when moved back to his natural position.
Brandon Miller has the same measurements as Paul George and shoot way better. Given our glut of guards I say this is pretty close to call for the number 2 pick.
I would take him second in a heartbeat. Just think, would you rather have Paul George or Russell Westbrook
I would have to assume jalen, sengun, top 5 pick, jabari, Tari, top 15 pick are guaranteed rotation minutes. most nba teams only play 9-10 guys each night. then there's only 4 more spots... KPJ, KJ, tate, tyty, JC, Garuba, and cap space are all fighting for those last 4 spots. they should also all be considered trade bait for consolidation or future picks.
