I thought Colangelo was a stud in Phoenix and would turn Toronto around. I was so wrong. Colangelo has installed a defenseless coach and defenseless players. They should have gotten Tom Thibodeau as coach.

Rockets were over the cap, when they got T-mac from Orlando. Lakers were over the cap when they got Gasol. It's no biggie.

Signing Turkoglu is turning out to be a HUGE mistake for Colangelo. They were so desperate to make an impression with Bosh and stay competitive that they gave out a horrible contract and now may be stuck without Bosh too.

Despite Phoenix being a FANTASTIC team earlier in the decade he made some really stupid mistakes. I read a Suns fan perspective on another forum once and it was pretty good. Let me see if I can find it.

It just proves how overrated Chris Bosh is. He has still only managed to complete 1 winning season in his career. He is not a guy a team can be built around

Gasol and Garnett were proven to be guys you cant build around, but that doesnt mean that can't be pieces on a championship team.

I think Bosh is rated right where he should be. He may not be a number 1 option or franchise player but he's far from overrated. I liken him to a Pau Gasol when he was on the grizzlies. The Raptors top to bottom are arguably the worst team in the league talent wise. Bosh would flourish as a number 2 option paired with a real PG or SG and he would be absolutely deadly if he slid down to a number 3 player.

Bosh is surrounded by a bunch of soft jump shooting big men (Bargnani/Hedo) and the PG position is run by 2 bonafide backup pg's in Jack/Calderon. The Raptors have a sorry ass team and I'm surprised Bosh has led his team this far to at least hold on for dear life for the 8th spot.

I guess my issue is, how good is Bosh from Scola? I mean, obviously Bosh is a much better and younger player, however if you could sign Scola for the midlevel or a little above that, is it worth giving him up plus other assets to sign Bosh to the max? The more I think about it the answer is no.

You answered your own question there. No disrespect to Scola but Bosh is the far superior player. If Yao can come back to even 80% of what he used to be a trio of Yao/Bosh/Martin and our surrounding cast of whoever is left would make us instant contenders.

Could you imagine what would have happened if they hired Morey instead of Colangelo?

Instead of Bargnani, maybe they trade down and get Brandon Roy. Then, the next year, they draft or buy picks to get Brooks and Landry.

I don't know who Morey would get for coach, but it wouldn't be Triano. They would still need a big C to anchor their defense.

    Brooks
    Roy
    ????
    Bosh/Landry

As a Raptor fan, I hope he leaves. The last couple weeks have been absolutely laughable.

I'll take scola at 2/3 the price on a shorter contract, I hope all you people that hate on t-mac are not the ones clamoring for this guy who has yet to prove anything in this league. The guy wants to be the focal point, the leader of his team, he's got the whole it's on me attitude. If luis was on that team I would imagine he could average 20-10 no problem. Neither one plays great defense, but I know scola has heart and is willing to differ when needed.

There is no way he can go to a contender and be the main focus/franchise player at the same time (like he originally indicated). All contending teams already have a franchise player...

The Raptors have had somes big misses in the NBA Draft.

2005- 10th and 16th pick and they draft Charlie Villanueva and Joey Graham and pass on Danny Granger twice

2006- 1st pick and they draft Bargani and pass on both Lamarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy

    2007 - No Draft Pick

    2008- No Draft Pick

2009- 9th Pick and they draft DeMar DeRozan

    2010- No Draft Pick

Their poor draft selections have falied to get them very much help....

I love Luis as much as the next guy but I think perhaps you're overrating him.

2/3rds of Bosh's contact next year is $11.4 mil. Luis is a solid player but he isn't worth that much.

Luis had the opportunity this year to up his stats to 20-10 levels and found he couldn't do it on a nightly basis. Bosh can.

Bosh is extremely overrated. He has quality talent around him in Toronto (in the friggin East), he hasn't exactly been stellar with them. Not sure if he ever will be in another team as the No.1 guy.

So Bosh isn't capable of playing any defense, and he's not good enough to be "the piece". In addition his team is under .500 in the East. How is that worth max dollars?

Bosh is a PF and they have him playing and defending the center position. His front court partner is Bargnani, who is incredibly soft, and plays absolutely no defense whatsoever. So basically its 1 PF, Bosh, responsible for covering both the C and PF position on defense.

Furthermore the Toronto wing defenders: Calderon, Turk and Derozan also play zero defense. So not only does he have to guard out of position, he also has to patrol the paint when opposing attackers blow by thier teamates. Essentially its a layup drill against the Raptors.

While Bosh is not a great post defender, he is a terrific pick and roll defender. If he were to come here, he would move back to defending his natural position, with Yao at C.

If you will remember our series vs the Jazz, we never had anyone who could defend the pick and roll or follow shooting big men out to the perimeter. Neither Yao nor Scola will leave the paint on defense. Bosh, however, can and will. What I am saying is, yes he has a REPUTATION for being a bad defender, but thats not nesecarily the case and I personally believe it could be remedied.

Bosh probably isnt worth the max, but on a team like Houston where nearly every team is appropriately paid or underpaid, we can afford to overpay a player of his caliber, as players like him are rare and a valuable commodity.
