Yeah, because nothing ruins a franchise like winning 50+ games and then having to pick in the early to mid 20s instead of in the top 10.

We might as well fold up the franchise. :p

Knicks are pretty dumb...they're willing to trade unlimited picks for a bag of chips and some Tsnack.

You know what will be fun to watch?

Suppose the Knicks ARE in the running for the worst record in the league.

We don't know what the schedule will be like, but let's say that we play them somewhere in the last month of the season, and it looks like they might actually have a shot at the worst record, maybe competing with the Clipps and the Nets.

    Now, what do we do?

You think Leslie and DM and Adelman don't have their heads in a powwow all year long discussing just such an eventuality? Where the difference between one win and one loss for the Knicks could make a huge difference regarding the number of ping pong balls they have?

I'm just saying, it wouldn't surprise me if the Knicks manage to pull off not one, but maybe even TWO 'stunning upsets' of the Rockets next year.

Now if we are jockeying for playoff position, of there are some genuine stakes involved for the CURRENT season, then nah they probably don't deliberately sit Yao or KM or Brooks, but if the stars align just right, we could maybe help 'nudge' NYK into the #2 spot if they are really really tanking, jockeying for that worst record and the biggest bag of balls.

    Maybe, maybe no.

#1 seed (25% chance of winning the lottery) and #2 seed (19.9%) have only 5% difference. I don't think it warrants losing to them deliberately. And I SERIOUSLY doubt Rox would do that.

If the Knicks get the #1 pick next season, then it will be more proof that the league is rigged.

Even if the Knicks fail to get LeBron, I am sure the the pick won't be top 5. It would be somewhere between 6-18.

Well, lets hope that, come draft lotto day 2011, NY's exec (ain't gonna be Donnie Walsh-- if they suck that bad, he'd either quit or get fired) is sitting up there making this face

But then lets hope the pick we luck into turns out better than

Rumor has it Joe Johnson is already a lock.

Of course all of that is tampering if you can prove it. But if it happens and they don't get another name but just David Lee and add JJ they should still have enough cap to add another quality second tier player like a Brendan Haywood or Tyson Chandler, Galinaro, Toney Douglas Plus maybe Curry comes back strong (It's always amazing how players rehabilitate in their contract year) on the bench with a couple of second rounds and a couple of old vets with a little left. That could work enough to make the playoffs in the east.

Your sarcasm is very much appreciated here.

I gave up on this team a week back but then they slapped me in the face and said hey we still think we have a shot. I would like us to get the 11th pick this year and a shot at Whiteside or even Monroe. But there is something about watching these guys compete like they do, especially when they are so out-manned, that makes me believe they will be better for the games they win now than with a higher draft pick later. Of course come draft time I am sure I will think differently.

Worst case scenario they land Joe Johnson. He played under D'Antoni and you know he won't pass up the opportunity to be the man in that offense.

That is a pretty damn good worst case scenario. Good enough to get them competing for a playoff spot in the Leastern.

That isn't worst case, worst case for the Knicks is if they sign no one; worst case for the Rockets is if the Knicks sign Lebron and Wade/Bosh.

Just signing Joe Johnson is an in between option, neither worst nor best.

If they Knicks are the worst team or close to it, there is a 100% chance they land the top pick.

David Stern is running the show.

I am just hoping we can trade those picks in the offseason b/c I am not expecting much out of them. I doubt the Knicks airball FAcy.
