    Under Sloan,

    Our offense would be:

Yao, Battier, Alston, Dik, Snyder, and McGrady falling down each time a 180 lb PG grazes them. 2 free throws, and eventually McGrady busting his back again and the Rockets season being over. Oh yes, I can't forget pouting to the refs when the official doesn't call the foul.

    Our defense would be:

Players using chokeholds, jersey pulls, pinches, nail scratching, and head butting. Yao would foul out in 5 minutes. Chuck Hayes would foul out in 5 seconds. Pouting to the refs for calling the foul on them.

D'antoni is one-dimensional but he's absolutely phenomenal at what he does. I don't think he could make the Rockets better than JVG.

JVG is a better offensive coach that D'antoni is defensive IMO.

At this point, JVG has done all he can and he's done a tremendous job. Another disciplinarian won't take this team to the title.

I think that JVG has set the foundation for a championship team but it remains to be seen if he can finish the work off and get his team to take the final step and win it all.

IMO, we need a player's coach, a motivator, someone like Rudy T who may not be the best X's and O's guy, and may not give the meanest practices, but has that ability to make a team dream. Regardless, if we get a coach like that and win it, I would give most of the cresit to JVG for building a culture here. Excellent defense, strict rules aout physical conditioning, clarity on his strategy, and no-nonsense. Rudy T is the kind of coach who should coach veterans, and JVG is the kind of coach who can mold a team and its players into the kind of people who can win a championship.

As for the 2 coaches, i dont think any of them could get us further than JVG. I think that Phil jackson probably could though because he can clearly take a team past that final bump. Great players are necessary to win championhips, but having them doesn't guarantee that you will. It's not as easy to win a championship with the best players as people think.

I am surprised you didn't add Phil Jackson on your list. me thinks he is the right one to coach the Rockets.

I disagree with that. You don't need five people to hold a fast break. You only need 3 or 4 quick players. When was the last time you saw 5 players run the fast break. it rarely happens. Anyway , Yao has been outrunning most centers prior to his injury.

But the better question is what if Phil jackson was our Coach, Yao would be MVP because Phil knows how to utilize big men like Shaq in his laker days.

We don't need any of those coaches Ehsan. We have a championship caliber coach that is available in Rick Adelman.

I agree... Sloan's made his reputation as player for his defense, but as a coach, his impact is felt primarily on the offensive end. It's the Jazz system: lots of pick and rolls, and high percentage shooting...

This is a pointless argument because it opens too many cans of worms and chicken/egg questions. At what point would these coaches been hired? If it were during the time JVG was hired, there might be a chance that someone like Sloan would have wanted NO PART of T-Mac, who was looking like a quitting bum in Orl.

Who knows what players would still have remained or left sans Van Gundy.

There are 2903904903290439 diff possibilities that can stem from hypothesizing about various coaches being on the Rockets.

Yep. He's the one guy who can light a much-needed fire under Yao and T-Mac's ass. He knows what it takes to win with a lethal 1-2 punch.

Of course, with all the anti-Laker sentiment here, common sense such as this isn't going to exist. That said, JVG is a good enough fit for our team.

Here's one difference: If Sloan was the Rockets' coach, I'd be a Spurs fan.

D'Antoni? We don't have Nash here so he'll absolutely fail.
