I'm not the one who first used comparisons.. I said first if Rudy Gay and Battier has similar production this year then the trade is already a mistake.. then you tried comparing Wade and Lebron to Iverson to prove your point.. in YOUR comparison, it was clear that going with the younger guy is better which basically invalidated your original point.. and now you try to bring up another comparison.. do you try to say that Gay is like Howard and Yao is like Battier? Yao is an all star and 1 or 2 option in Rox so there is no way he gets let go.. and Howard was straight out of HS so there is more risk comparad to Gay who at least has proven something for 2 years in a loaded U Conn team..
No you said if gay and battier have the same stats we lose. That is a comparison of gay and battier. So I said stats are not the only thing that matter because if you look at stats only, Iverson's are better then Wade and Lebron, when clearly those guys are better then AI. As for Howard being risky, two years out of high school he has proven to be a double double guy against NBA talent and among the league leaders in rebounds. Two years out of high school, Gay has only proven to be a 15 and 5 guy against NCAA talent. Gay is a much higher risk then Howard is. I think it is safe to say, I am for the trade and you are against it. Not much we can do to change each others minds. I just hope for the Rox sake, that I am right.
so you tell me why are Wade and Lebron better than AI? Because they are longer, more athletic, and younger.. same with Gay and Battier, if they have the same stats, Gay is simply the smart choice because he is longer, more athletic, and younger
you can always buy a memphis jersey with the words 'gay' on it i'd rather pass and get my Houston Rockets 2007 World Championship shirts with Shane Battier and Mike James 's grills on it.
Did you watch UConn play this season? Coz I did and there's no way you are comparing Gay to those guys.
why would I? and how? Gay's college performance vs kobe, tmac, & amares hs performance? I'm just saying that its possible he can be a bust like EG and its possible for him to develop to be an allstar as well..
Why? Because UConn had a damn good program. How? ESPN Full Court....its great. Any pick could be a bust or allstar.
Eddie Griffin traded for Collins and Jefferson hint: we have 2 superstars Yao Tmac we dont need an all star team. we need a strong supporting cast like the miami heat...the champs See how Dwade destroyed Dallas? put some defenders on the Rockets team and they can do the same. also they can put Rudy's Gay picture in the glass bowl in the locker room for you too.
so are you saying collins=swift and jefferson=battier?? did I say Gay had to be a superstar? are you saying he's going to be a superstar? I thought you said he's gonna be a bust? if he can be 3rd option and a long and athletic defender like prince or howard the I'll alright the heat had all stars and really talented and athletic stars.. we only have battier and 70% of rox fans..
the word is 'if' he could be a bust, a superstar, or in the middle who knows. we know battier is a solider player and that tmac likes him.
The Heat's 'role players' were former All Stars (GP, Walker, Mourning), a former #1 option on a 50 win team (Posey), and the starting PG from that 50 win team. I think you (and others) under estimate that talent level needed to compete for championships. Where you have Battier, the Mavs have Josh Howard with a former 29ppg scorer coming off the bench. They have a recent top 5 pick as their PG vs. Luther Head. They had Van Horn, you had Bowen. For the Rockets to win a title, T Mac and Yao have to playing at a level that Shaq and Kobe were playing at when they won due to such horrible supporting casts and even then they had an All Star as their 3rd option (Glenn Rice) to get them over the hump.
