Man, Battier deserves to be over Kirilenko. I love Andrei's game, but this year he has seemed a half step slower, he can't stay healthy, and he isn't exactly wowing us with his 9ppg and 5rpg, and his blocks and steals are down as well, which is why many call him a great defensive player.

I don't base crap off stats, but defensive player of the year usually has a lot to do with stats which is why rarely does a guard or small forward ever get the award. Of course a big man's impact in a game is unquestionable, but I mean this year Battier has done a great job on the defensive which is why we are number 1 in team defensive efficiency.

Sure I understand that, but we passed on Brandon Roy, not on Rudy Gay.

If this is really true then why aren't there more threads of this nature about Roy or anyone who came right before or after our pick in the draft?

We didn't pass on Roy, Roy got picked before it was our turn. We didn't get the opportunity to pick him. Rudy Gay, on the other hand, was therer when it was our turn. We had the opportunity to pick him and keep him. Your metaphor would make sense if you changed the name from Roy to JJ Reddick or something. Of course, JJ sucks so thats why there aren't any threads about him.

Just get used to the fact that people are going to question it forever. I personally think Battier is the better choice, and unless he has a huge drop off in the next year or so, he was the better end of the deal.
