I believe you're thinking of Charles Bublanski. A famous Russian poet who touched on many topics from the apartheid to asian athletes making comebacks in mainstream sports at the request of their asian friends.

Let it go. We all loved Yao and wanted it all to end better, but its time to move on. No point in living in the past.

I haven't read anything but the OP so I'm sorry if I'm repeating a great idea someone else already had, but...

    Why stop there?

If Lin blows up, maybe Hakeem will come back!! Or Moses!! Or Wilt?

Nope, none of them are as white as Duncan and Battier. You just picked a bunch of hillbilly's with tattoos.

    That's racist.

Matt Bonner is black. If he was a hillbilly, he would be in p*rn industry.

Brandon Roy is reportedly/definitely returning, and has no meniscus in either knee. Hornacek played well into his mid thirties with the same debalitating problem.

Yao from what I've read does not have soft tissue damage: he suffered broken bones in his foot and ankle; theoretically, if these bones were to heal properly, and if he were to rehab properly, I don't see why a return would be impossible.

Yao's problems were not so much his injuries, it was his constantly rushing back and playing injured, esp. for those commies in int'l play.

Regardless, Yao seems to be enjoying life after basketball. Not a surprise considering how badly exploited he was by his own damn country as an athlete.

He made a few bucks along the way, too, so there is no financial need.

When Yao comes back, he will join the evil forces of the Miami Heat. Securing his legacy as a champion.
