I hope it's not the sick and uneducated joke I took it to ne. Ramadan is a holy period for Muslims when they fast between sunup and sundown. TO be charitable to Will, let's assume he meant Hakeem would "run" for food as soon as the sun sets.

I doubt either of those is realistic, but if he's starting and playing well in January, we could see him at the all-star game. Personally, I'm hoping for Hakeem to manage 60 games and average 15 points, 7 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, and 1.6 steals.

Why those numbers? Those would make him #1 all time in blocks (which he already is), #5 all-time in steals (currently #6), #7 all-time in scoring (currently #10, as I recall, although nba.com has him at #11), and #10 all-time in rebounds (currently #11, I believe).

Who is the only player in NBA history to reach the top 10 in all those categories?

(Trick question. Hakeem would be the first!)

I would settle for 70-75% of the 93-95 Dream or 90-95% of the 96-97 Dream. That alone would land him on the All Star list and put us in the playoffs with some hope. F--K that TANK IT Loser Mentality. We don't want to ever be in the same class as Dallas, Grizz,or Clipps.

Mango-- I didn't put that much thought into my post. [IMG] To clarify, I don't think that Hakeem will play in more than 20 games.

Let's see. Hakeem scores 6 more ppg and grabs 3 more rpg. Last year, Croshere scored the same as Walt and grabed 2 more boards. That puts us at 6 more points and 5 more boards plus Cato's potentional to be a title contender? Really?

I didn't realize Cato had so much potential.

We'd be lucky to see .500, forget about the playoffs.

Those numbers you just stated make a difference. Seems minor, but not really. Five more rebounds means 5 less scoring chances for the other team. Potentially four points. Gives you fast breaks. Gives you momentum. Gives you a lot. Add another 6 points for Hakeem and that makes 10 points. That's big. and let's say you smoke that argument with some fancy number crunching or smart remark. It doesn't matter, because you can't measure what Croshere and Hakeem could do to the team mentally. Any one player can impact a whole team's chemistry. Look at Messier. Lot's of examples. Croshere may be the missing link Houston has been looking for. We've got two potential ALL Stars in Hakeem and Francis. We've got defense in Hakeem, Francis, and Cato. So the elements are there. We've got scoring punch too. We have a chance, but we've got to pick up someone who gives us the chance to turn it around. If we get croshere we have a chance. That's all I'm looking for. A chance to turn this thing around.

If the Dream comes back to his old self..... well I would cry tears of joy. I have never respected a man more than Dream, he brought Houston their first two Championships. Aquired mainly while riding on his back. So if Dream is back then I would move back to Houston for a year and get season tickets(i live in California now). At the very least Houston should sell out every game this year even if they only win 1 game just out of respect to the Dream. Lets hope he plays a full season though.

That's fine. Maybe Croshere gives you a "chance" to turn it around. Maybe he's a start. But to say, as some have, that we would be title contenders is a quantum leap. If Croshere is your only addition, Dream won't be chasing a ring this year. Croshere has potential, but he's not much of an upgrade over last year's 3. His attitude may be nice, but I don't think the Rockets lost many games because they didn't have desire or heart.

I don't think Hakeem's coming back doesn't help us as much on the offensive end as it will the defensive end. If he get's 15/8 thats good for me, as long as he's patrolling the lane like a man posessed. If we can get Cato and Dream to play the kind of interior defense that everyone know's they can, we immediately become one of the best defensive teams in the league. Combine that with Francis getting better, Anderson getting better(I think we can expect improvement from both) and why can't we expect to make a run in the playoffs?

    Will,

"If Dream came back next year in his form of old, I'd sue him for his performance during the past two seasons."

Why would you want to sue Hakeem for the year before last? 18.9 pt, 9.6 reb, .514 FG%, 2.46 blk, 1.64 stl, 35.7 mpg, and he played in every game. His numbers may have been slightly down, but we did have Barkley and Pippen vying for shots and rebounds.

"Another run? He's got many more runs in him. Mostly during Ramadan."

I don't get it. Please explain this one to me. I get the fact that Hakeem is Muslim and observes Ramadan. But, how will that give him more "runs"? I know there are different uses for the word, but I failed to understand which usage you were using, and even then what the sentence meant.

Will, could you please explain to everyone what you meant by that?

It's safe to say Mike Tyson won't have many more runs left in him when he's through with Lennox's children.

As I suspected, only making sure. Will, I don't find any joke pertaining to someone's religious beliefs and ceremonies to have ANY place on this BBS. However, you are right, that explanation of yours sure explains alot.
