Disagree. I think the first championship team was better equipped to chuck it into Akeem and make a living from the 3 point line.

However, I *do* think this team is awesome with Akeem and Ralph in the 85/86 Rockets, for the following reasons:

    1. Ralph Sampson would be the ideal high post for the Adelman offense.
    2. Akeem was still a run and dunk machine at this point in his career and didn't need the ball in the post to be effective. He was a monster starting and finishing the fast break and would own the offensive glass in this system.
    3. Our guys don't seem to be as enamored of the booger sugar.

Would be interesting to see if they could beat Kobe's Lakers.

all true but lets fix that last bit, If yao AND t-mac are healthy with dream at the power forward spot how amazing how this team be? our bench would still be better than most starting lines in the league.

    Brooks/Lowry
    T-mac/Budinger
    Ariza/Battier/scolandry
    Dream/scolandry
    Yao/ryan anderson

you could even say for stretchs of a game we play

    t-mac
    ariza
    battier
    dream
    yao

that's a line up that is no shorter than 6'8. I'd love to see the Lakers deal with that.

Olajuwon would command double/triple teams every game, and guess what that does for our perimeter guys thirsty to flex the long range muscles ;) This is indeed a dream that I would give almost anything to see.

What would be more interesting is if all the teams each had two of their previous All Stars. Rockets, Lakers, Bulls, Celtics, Pistons, Blazers, Sixers.. that would be a tough call. It could be anyone on any given night or series.

Imagine Bird with Pierce and KG. Magic and Kareem with Kobe. MJ and Pippen with Rose and Noah. Wilt n Dr. J with AI x 2. of course Dream n Sampson with our current Rockets. I think it would be between Houston, Boston, Chicago, and LA every year.

The reason, I meantioned Dream and this team is because of the 40 million dollar whole in our lineup. All our guys are role players, and we are missing a true superstar. The Celtics already have 3.5 max type players. LA already has 3 max players. Chicago sucks but they have guys making a ton of money. Our guys are not max type players and only Aaron has the potential to even be close.

I trust Shane's defense and Horry's game winning shots.
Now tell me, which aspect of the game is more important?

This one is actually the hardest. I don't know. I trust Sam's shooting a lot more than Lowry's. But then, Lowry is a better playmaker and defender, and is fantastic at running the break. So it's kind of a wash.

A couple of weeks ago, I would say Ariza, simply because Mad Max was so unstable. Now I am not so sure. I think I trust Ariza's shooting (as crazy as it sounds) more than Maxwell's. But I trust Max's defense more.

I'll have to watch Budinger (not buddinger, btw) more to say this. I think you should too.

    Lee,

I was talking about the team so you have include everyone.

    Scola/Landry/Hayes or Horry/Thorpe/Bull
    Battier/Ariza/Budinger or Horry/Elie/Maxwell
    Lowry/Brooks or Cassell/Smith

I have a fondness of the championship teams but I remember vividly the criticisms of the team. They didn't play hard all the time, they didn't play defense on the perimeter especially at the 1 spot, and no one could create for themselves on a regular basis.

When Max was at his best, there was no stopping him, but he was a streaky as streaky could be and he would only get up defense when he was playing all star.

This current team is different. They play hard and smart on every play. I don't know how clutch they are yet but they did show up big against the Lakers last year.
