I think the more intriguing question is what if Dream played for Rick?

I would have loved to see that combination. One of my favorite player and coach.

Speaking of intriguing, how about this one...

What if Rick played for Dream?

Our defense was good because of Dream. However, the perimeter defense totally sucked. That is why Stockton and KJ used to abuse us. Cassell and Kenny couldn't stop penetration or close out on three point shooters.

I think Dream would do fine the first 10 games or so... and then his knees, ankles, hamstring, etc. would start to get injured and put him on the sidelines. Nobody wins against father time, not even dream.

If the current Dream sees the time traveler Hakeem. The universe would implode and existence would be wiped out completely.

Our perimeter defense was not good when it came to shutting down quick guards who went one on one. The main reason was that Smith and Cassell were not very good at stopping quick players like KJ.

However our perimeter defense against 3 point shooting was actually very good.

    Examples:

    1) Maxwell shut down Dan Majerle who went used to score a lot of 3 pointers against other teams. As a team, Suns did not get as many good looks from the 3 point line as theyd id against other teams.

    2) Rockets pretty much shut down Dennis Scott and Nick Anderson from 3 point line.

Horry (especially against the Magic), Maxwell. Drexler, and Elie were very good at covering the 3 point line.

It's the quick one one one players that penetrated they had no anser for. No one on th Rockets was quick enough to stay in front.

    is goi

In fact Coach Adelman has alredy dropped several hints that it is gong to be very difficult to fit Yao into the present team plan.

Yes! Yao did play well with last years team but this season we are talking about a new game, just incase you haven't noticed it. :p

Dream wouldn't be enough today imo with this team. I mean obviously without yao or t-mac.

We would need another all star still and i think the perfect guy would be prime Ray Allen.

There are so many guys in the league that pace themselves. There are many guys that have good talent and play hard that are very good role players. Dream was a rare combination. He played all out AND he had elite talent. Jordan was in this category as well. Carmelo is not. Tracy is not. Barkley is not. Every play both on offense and defense wasn't wasted.

Ya, basically LA and BOSTON would dominate again.

But anyway, has anyone played this in NBA2k10? It's pretty bad ass to see how teams do. You can download players that aren't in the game and there are pretty good ones out there like Penny, Webber, Miller, Kemp, Barkley for example.

Also, if you don't know how to keep the legends in association mode without them retiring.....edit each player and on their age, press right button untill you see their "years pro" turn to 1. Fix their contract, and they end up not retiring after year 1.

The only stupid thing is you have guys like Brandon Roy(89) rated higher than Clyde(85) on the team. Patrick Ewing 95? pfft. Karl Malone in the high 80's i believe? C'mon now. So it takes a while to bring down the current players a lil and the legends up a lil so they stand out more and then fix all the legends age and contracts.

Yall should give it a try.

Dream was so good, it didn't matter, but for the fun of it, let me ask a few questions.

    Who do you trust more?
    Horry or shane?
    cassell or lowry?
    maxwell or ariza?
    elie or buddinger?

It looks good and we can talk about how this group of role player are better than the ones on the past teams, but those role players made big shots and big plays. Go look at how horry played and produced big time in the playoffs. Go look at cassell on the road in elimination games. Go look at maxwell in ny in a decisive game. I'm not saying these guys couldn't do it, but i know they got trampled last game 7 and was trampled the year before in game 6.

I trust Horry, Cassell, Maxwell and Elie. Mainly because they've won titles for us, with the exception of Ariza (lakers). I like the current group, but they can't overshadow those guys who helped deliver us titles.

Dream was a basketball god in Houston but not anywhere else in the country. The Rockets would beat Jordan's Bulls? Dream on. Only in Houston. But Dream on this current team would still be, Dream.

If Adelman thinks Yao will have a hard time playing with this team then he should be fired. This team is nowhere near a contender and if this team does not adjust to Yao then it is not going anywhere.

this is because you are a newb to the history of the rockets and the NBA and you drank that Nike koolaid.

Some of us actually saw jordans bulls play dreams rockets. You know they both came out of college at the same time. Who made it to the finals first? Dream or Jordan ?

coz Dream had Ralph Sampson, John Lucas, and a bunch of solid vets while Jordan had a bunch of scrubs, a busted foot and arguably the best team of the 1980s in the Celtics to go through?

honestly they both were good immediately in the league. if I remember they went 1 and 2 for ROY and pretty much everyone agreed. but it's "not drinking cool" aid to say Jordan was better than Hakeem. the poster might be a noob as you say but he's right in saying that only in Houston would that be debated.

also keep in mind that offensively Jordan would only be helped by the officiating and rule changes in the current league, while Hakeem would probably be hampered. but they'd both be studs. take any top 10 player from any era and they'd be at the top of any other era.

still I think overall Dream does get his due around the league. The person who IMO gets shafted by noobs is Clyde Drexler... who at one time was considered good enough to rival Jordan but who kids today seem to have no clue how good he actually was, even before he met back up with Olajuwon for the Chip

Just to let you know, I was already a fan of the Celtics before you may even have been born. Dream may have made it to the finals first but the Rockets only won the championship when Jordan "retired". You may want to argue about this but the facts are the facts.
