I think that if an alien spacecraft did crash land in the United States the government would do anything and everything to keep it secret. Not because of any potential panic of the people but to keep all the technology. Think about it. If an alien spacecraft did crash it is was not a secret than don't you think EVERY country in the world would demand access to the ship claiming that the world had a right to it? That it was bigger than just one nation? Of course, really they would fear that the technology would be solely available to the U.S. and would want to make sure that everyone had equal access. But you don't think for a second that any government would want to share?
Well . . . . I'll just say this for perspective Columbus wasn't looking AMERICA . . . . He was looking for a place he knew about and was looking for a different route . . .and found it. Are you telling me. . . that It can happen to Columbus. . . that he *had* to STUMBLE upon two continents that are represent a Good portion of this planet. . . . but Aliens could not stumble across our planet and play like anthropologist to see what we about before revealing them selves. . . Aliens: HEY WE HEAR Humans: CRUCIFY THEM! Aliens: Yea. . I think maybe we should have studied them a bit more before we did this . . . . Rocket River
That is indeed a plausible hypothesis, but would more likely destroy his reputation than provide him with any sort of true accolades outside of the 'woo woo' community. His comments on the subject were generally professional and appeared to be something he truly believed happened. Cooper talking about UFO's certainly wouldn't cause much harm to NASA so i'm not sure that works as a true motive.
I think the point is that his reputation was already destroyed with NASA and friends. The only place he was going to get love was from the 'woo woo' community. So its either tour the crazy circut and tell tall tales, or sit at home and grow old alone.
He could have toured and spoke at serious intellectual circuits (his resume was that good) -- he just chose to speak about ufo's. I'm not saying I believe what he was saying -- just an interesting choice given his history. Anyway - back to rocketsjudoka's original subject...
Everyone is so behind the curve. We are descended from aliens, who crash-landed on our planet many thousands of years ago. Unable to leave, they used their advanced technology to breed with the ape-like creatures already here and morphed into us. Think about it. Everything is explained!
What if we don't know what their motives are only that they have visited us and we have a crashed spaceship and some bodies.
Still I think you tell the people, just to let everyone know there is more out there than just us.... DD
Organised religion would be shattered in so many cases if the government let out this sorto of information. The government relies on organized religion to be opiate for the masses.
So you equate faith to a mind numbing narcotic. Got it. You should probably take a Carnegie course. If you do not believe in religion, fine. Please do not belittle those who do.
My apologies, that's just my feelings on the matter. I don't mean you to feel belittled...I dont look down on those who follow a religion at all...
Inbred Aliens, most likely. I saw a doco once that explained how humans wouldn't be able to travel long periods in space due to the large amounts of radiation that passes through thier body's causing a high risk of cancer. Whose there to say an alien species would'nt have this same problem?
