I would totally be down to swap this years pick for LaMelo if it falls outside of Top 2. Ofc that would close the window on Harden returning but I'm okay with that. Spend some cash this summer to address needs like a defensive 5, 3pt specialist etc then go after Brown, Siakam or Middleton in Summer '24.
Desperate for a PG. Rightfully so. A great PG could make such a big difference in this team. Neither of these guys are great PG's for different reasons.
Why would we wanted Suggs? He is always hurt and I do not see the HEART to get to that next level….Nah.
He carried? No. He had other stars around him to help but chased every one of them outta town. When he didn't get his way he pouted & visibly stopped competing in huge elimination games You want this guy back?
Another reason the culture was semi toxic even when Harden was around, he had too much say and power in this organization.
Bridges would be a great sign. I don’t think the Sengun better than Siakim is a realistic take, although I love Sengun’s future. Siakim is a really good player and I don’t think he is a great fit. Ball would be the perfect KPJ replacement at point if he could stay on the court, but he can’t so I have soured on giving up a lot for him. To me the perfect off-season vet wise, would be sign Harden and trade for Bridges or Brown. Do not want FVV, Kyrie, Lilliard, or Trey Young. I really think Bridges is doable, but it would be expensive.
At this point any team interested in Kyrie is just dumb. Everything going on in Dallas is not his fault but its clear the man is just bad juju, it's clear he brings a negative vibe wherever he goes
I agree except the idiot part. There is always the bird in hand arguments or fit on team arguments, but potential is a huge factor as well. Jordan wasn’t the number one pick.
Trae is a chucker and plays horrible defense. Green and Trey in the backcourt would be horrible defensively. Hell no to Trae Young.
Trae Young 23-24: $40,064,220 24-25: $43,031,940 25-26: $45,999,660 26-27: $48,967,380 How bad is Atlanta's buyer's remorse on that contract?
Harden a "quitter' but u want kyrie the guy who quit on his team, lebron, celtics, nets? The guy who refused to get vaccinated? Guy is an even bigger diva than Harden ever was. If u hate Harden just say so, making sht up to hate him and wanting a dude that's even a bigger locker room cancer. Typical Harden hater.
You're right, they should expect right around 30 IMO, assuming they get some veteran help. I would say 35 is the absolute ceiling, with the only semi-realistic way to break that would be like, drafting Wemby (and he has a LeBron-type rookie season, which is not guaranteed) AND signing Harden. I suppose if they trade the whole farm for a couple of B-tier stars and sign a bunch of MLE/vet minimum roleplayers that could also do the trick, but that would obviate the entire point of having spent 3 years tanking, so I really hope they don't do that (and do not expect them to do it).
Agree with everything you said except for the price for Bridges being too high. If the price for Bridges was the Nets picks and the cobbling together of contracts I’d do it. I think Stone has followed the script exactly how he laid it out when he took over. We have the most cap space and plenty of ascending youth and draft capital. My only fear is that they do something stupid to appease the fans. Trading or signing for the likes of FVV, Trae Young, Kyrie Irving, Damian Lilliard would set us up for years of mediocrity instead of championship building. The Harden fit is perfect for 3 years. Harden and Bridges (or Brown) and the maturation of the youth makes us contenders in 2 to 3 years and gives up time to find our PG (even if it is a more mature and mentored KPJ). A good coach hire is the first step.
Nets would want Kenyon, Jalen Green, Jabari in return along with picks. That's taking two steps back to go one step forward in my opinion. I don't want the Rockets doing that. Sengun, Tate, JC yes, because I don't think they mean much long term. Just don't think that's enough in the Nets mind for Bridges....Cam Johnson and Claxton, yes. [Sengun being a player i don't feel gets you far in the playoffs (much like Jokic/Embiid) ....have to sit Sengun when it counts] Just my opinion. We agree on much and disagree on many things. Respect you though.
I would take that gamble if it was straight up. My guess that Charlotte would insist on Sengun, Green, or Jabari be included which is a hell no from me because of LaMelo’s injury concerns. I think an injury free LaMelo is a superstar, but he can’t be a superstar from the bench half of every season.
You will be surprised what the Nets will demand and get for Bridges 26.1 pts, 4.5 rebs, over 3 asts (Phx), on 38% (3P%) while being a DPOY candidate last season.
