He will get what Mitchell demanded (4 firsts) but there is 0% chance Traey Young gets traded for 6 first round picks. Has anyone ever traded 6 first round picks excluding swaps for anyone? I don't think that has ever happened and Trae Young is not going to be the most valuable player in trade history just because the Wolves overpaid for Gobert.
I’m talking about how much value he’ll be traded for. Mitchell was traded for more than 6 firsts in value. KD was traded for way more than 6 firsts in value. AD was traded for more than 6 first in value. Harden was traded for a little bit more than 6 firsts in value. The 6 non-BKN firsts the Nets can trade are not particularly great - they’re mostly very far away and from teams with owners who will spend recklessly and young stars. The Nets have zero valuable young players they’d trade so all the value in the package would come in picks and the rest is filler expirings. Those 5-6 firsts from Brooklyn would not be a bigger trade package than any of the ones I mentioned above. He would not be the most valuable traded player ever lol. If Trae were traded he’d get a trade package in probably in the Mitchell range, below KD and AD, definitely above what teams were offering for Mikal Bridges when he was only a great role player (4 firsts), and what Dejounte cost (3+1 swap). So ~6ish firsts in value is the range that makes sense. That could be all picks or young players + picks. And I don’t even like Trae!
Quin Snyder has not ruled out keeping Trae so there is that. I know nobody on the Hawks likes him but that can be managed/arranged when your coach believes in you. At least John Collins seems to think highly of him.
This is interesting. Another reclamation project? If they get him, I hope he follows the Lonzo Ball trajectory (except the injuries, of course).
