To this day Arian is still the most important Texan of all time. More than JJ and more than Andre.

Arian was the engine on those Texans teams. Dude doesn't get near the credit he deserves.

Definitely more of a hindsight thing...but it was still very much a "This dude was undrafted and on the practice squad behind Steve f***ing Slaton?"

Randy Johnson and Justin Verlander both have to be up there, despite them being trades rather than rookies. Both pitched out-of-their-minds well beyond even their career HoF-level (in JV's case, hopefully it continues).

Harden's Rockets regular season debut with 37 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists... then followed it up with 45 points and 7 rebs... not a bad debut.

Last 30 years, there's only been two O-only Finals MVPs - Parker and Dirk --- ZERO the last six seasons. All other FMVPs last 12 seasons have been 1) perimeter players and 2) not O-only.

Be extra clutch if your defense sucks. Tony and Dirk had already had a decade of playoff experience to get comfortable.

I remember seeing Yao Ming first game against Shaq, and it was very impressive. blocking Shaq and scoring against him.
Also Arian Foster vs Indy was amazing, in the first game of the 2010 season, when he was named the starter, he ran for 231 yards and 3 TDs.

Yao making Barkley kiss the A$$

Barkley used to upset me for a lot of reasons. That was funny and really Yao's first game showing all his talent

Also Harden's opening games were truly signs of what he was long term. He is a statistical giant.

Those early Yao/Shaq matchups were very exciting.
