sure it didn't... just kidding... I believe you... and besides, if most of the members of this board didn't get caught doing that, they should consider themselves lucky, because it could have happened.
truer words have never been written in the history of this board...or hell...the internet for that matter.
There is no clique... (seriously...i don't think my high school had cliques. we were a very laid back, don't give a sht group).
Stoners and Gearheads. Nothing beat flying in my 69 Camaro SS/RS. I'm lucky...no blessed to be alive and not take anyone out with me.
Long hair, blues music, parties in the woods, pot and booze circa 1971. Counter culture I guess but it was a group of very smart kids, all but me turned out quite accomplished.
I played basketball and baseball, so most of my friends were athletes. I was also the valedictorian, but I didn't hang with the nerds.
I'm not trying to turn this into a political thread, but it would be quite interesting to see how many of the "counter culture" types in high school turned out to be liberals today. I've seen a couple of examples already in this thread.
The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, waistoids, dweebies, dickheads--they all adore him. They think he's a righteous dude.
Eh, don't sell yourself short, dude. Can these other dudes say that they have 2,200+ posts on a message board?? On the other hand, forget what I said!
As for me, the epitome of loner. I was smart, in almost honors everything, but never hung out with anyone, including nerds. Dropped out though. Not a a nerd, extremely rebelious. I'm asian, but never hung out with asians.
i was a snowboarder/skater who was also on the hockey team and basketball team - so i kind of transcended the boundaries of cliques.
Remember in '71 this group was draft bait and we lost a few of our friends, so yeah, we tended to be distrustful of the traditional power structure that was forcing us to be indentured cannon fodder And smarter people tend to be more liberal... well, it's true. They are your judges and your kid's college professors now.
started in the skater/stoner clique for the first 2.5-3 years then moved into the popular crowd... pretty easy transistion since i knew a lot of the "cooler" kids for ages and had been good friends with them in the past. what also made the transistion smooth was the fact that the popular/cool kids in my high school also partied real hard (read: drank alot and did a lot of drugs - for the most part) so it wasn't rare to see the skater/stoners getting high with the popular kids after school or partying together. apparently, years after we graduated, a lot of younger kids at our HS (who didn't even attend til after we graduated) started referring to our clique as the "A.P." - Abercrombie Potheads.... abercrombie still being a moderately respectable clothing store at the time. for the most part, all the cliques got along fairly well at my school.... not a lot of tension. the football players didn't pull much weight "cool" wise, which seems to surprise a lot of people.
I only had one friend in High School. I always wore an AC/DC shirt while my buddy wore his Metallica shirt, so I guess we were metalheads. Also, we used to loathe the hair metal crowd. I remember picking on this one kid who always wore a Winger shirt. We did not attend school much. Mostly we hung out and watched videos all day and talked about how much they sucked. But we never missed class for taco day!
