You guys can call LeBron what you want but there isn't a GM in the league that wouldn't take him over Yao. And if the Cleveland GM called CD and offered that trade, Yao would be in Cleveland before the end of the day.
Of course, you called every GM in the league and recorded their opinion like Steve did with his "family emergency." I can't wait to hear those tapes.
LJ and YM are once in a generation players, but I'm not sure you pass up a big man like YM for a guard, no matter how talented he is. Raven
Reading Comprehension dude. I was referring to people who believe that Francis is only slightly better than Mobley. I've never heard anyone in the league say that.
Sadly, you are foorgetting the Billion+ Yao Ming fans the NBA is courting.. having Yao on your team is *THE* number one asset a feanchise could have right now. It's immaterial at this time whether or not LJ is, or will be, a better player than Yao. This is, after all, still a business.
You do realize this statement can be made for 95% of the players in the league, right? Cleveland got that #1 pick from the NBA because they had to revive that franchise by drafting the hometown guy.
What does all-star selections have to do with all-NBA selections? Those are two distinct honors in the NBA.
The Steve Francis supporters are coming out in droves now almost like in a panic because everyone from the brain surgeon slicing and dicing to the taxi cab driver weaving through traffic knows Steve punched his ticket out of Houston. It wasn't just the Superbowl incident that is going to cause his exit too. The incompatibility with Van Gundy is striking, and Van Gundy knows you can't allocate 20% of the payroll to a guy who won't follow orders from the coach. Keep on talking because maybe it will convince Van Gundy.
THe forwards and the center. This is simple process of elimination type stuff, so you really shouldn't have needed to ask.
This actually proves how little respect you have for the work Francis does do. Rebounds don't just happen, you have to give effort, there's no process of elimination.
If the guards are not rebounding, then all of our rebounding comes from the forwards and the center. That just follows automatically from the statement that the guards are not rebounding. This isn't Rocket science. The 2 extra rebounds that Francis gives you over an average point guard can either be made up by a teammate, or just lost. I don't think I have ever seen a game hinge on the PG getting 5 rebounds. I don't think it is easy for a PG to get 5 rebounds, pgabriel, I just don't care if my point guard doesn't.
Not to keep going round and round, your position is what it is. But Francis rebounded well before this year, because his front line lacked that ability. It was important to the team.
Yao Ming is 15th in the NBA in rpg, Cato is 31st. Yao is 1 rpg away from the top ten. In reb/48 they are 21st and 28th. It seems to me that our big men are no worse than average rebounders. Unless every team needs a PG that gets as many rebounds as Francis, there doesn't seem to be a need for the Rockets to have one.
Irony of all ironies.........Coop's "big question" at half time last night was from some guy wanting to know why the Rockets don't run more. After Coop gave her bit, she passed the question to Calvin who basically said......once again......one of the big reasons the Rockets can't run the fast break is because the guards are staying back to pad their stats with rebounds. Both of them, Cat and Steve, are guilty of this.
