    Excluding Houston sports...

Certainly USC v Texas was thrilling...as was the Giants v. Patriots. For some reason I can't stop thinking about OU v. Boise State. Granted a national title wasn't on the line, but...the ending...who could have imagined an ending that could top Vince Young's iconic stroll down the field into the endzone?

Everything about that Fiesta Bowl was simply, in my mind, the best college football game ever. The Broncos were doing well, up a considerable amount in the second quarter, only to blow it by an errant Zabransky pass for a Sooner touchdown late in the game. It was supposed to be too late, the end.

But Boise State's fearlessness, their "we've got nothing to lose" bravado, the old-school trick play (hook & lateral...on 4th & 18...then Peterson single-handedly takes the breath out of the Broncos on the first play in overtime) after trick play, after trick play, all in succession.

    That can't possibly be topped.

    Plus OU lost!

That Boise State game still gives me chills. My favorite moment was when the Eagles finally got over the hump of the NFC championship and made it to the Super Bowl.

This is probably my list as well.

I would probably throw in a couple more Astros moments like Kent's homer and Burke's homer.

Also, the moment I found out the Rockets had gotten the first pick in the draft and that we would get Yao Ming has to be up there.

Absolutely. Good call on this one.

That game should be on ESPN Classic at least once a week.

    1. Texas over USC
    2. Texans over Cowboys (being at the game surely had something to do with it)
    3. Boise State over OU
    4. Astros win the NL pennant
    5. Rockets win the lottery ball

Imagine the Rockets scraping into the playoffs on the last day of the regular season, then beating three 60-win teams, then falling into a 0-3 hole in the Finals, then taking it to Game 7, then getting to overtime with buzzer-beating defence, then winning the whole damn thing by making free throws under pressure.. that's what Liverpool's 2005 Champions League campaign felt like to me

    1. The Astros Pennant-clenching game (awesome for me, because I had just had my home destroyed in a hurricane, was working nights, and watching the Astros in those playoffs was a really nice diversion).
    2. The Jeff Kent game (I was there.)
    3. The Chris Burke game.
    4. Lamar-Sam Houston State in the first round of the 2007 Southland Tournament. Just a legendary game.
    5. Tiger at the 2008 US Open.

Texas over USC, and the Astros winning the 18 inning game against the Braves to get to the NL Championship series.

When the Florida Gators won the title. Oh, wait, there were 3 you say? How to choose, how to choose...

I'll give a narrow edge to the first basketball championship. Each round the bars were getting more and more packed and you could tell people were starting to believe after the narrow Georgetown win on a Corey Brewer fade away/falling down shot in the final minute.

The BCS was great because everyone had already written off the Gators. And when they actually qualified for the title game everyone thought they would get killed. It was an incredible game, but there wasn't as much build up like March Madness where you were on the edge of your seat every few days.

Easily the Texas-USC game. I'm as big of a longhorn fan as I've been a Rockets fan. It was wild with people running out into the streets of my neighborhood after the TD.

I hadn't been that excited since the Rockets championships.

The only thing close in the last 10 years has been the Astros, but it would have taken a World Series win to beat the Horns NC.

I've been a Rockets, Texans, Astros and UH fan since I moved to Houston, but this is one team I can honestly say I've been a fan of all my life:

I can't believe how some people forget it's been MORE THAN 10 YEARS since the Rockets' championships, so they bring those up... :D

    For me, I think it's:

    1. x2
    [IMG]

    then
    2. (Oh, so close... )
