That's correct. He just blew by Howard, who had no choice but to foul him. Yao was not defended very well in the Orlando game (where he had 37 points). I think he still needs a little time to get back in rhythm.
yao spins right, which is the just fully recovered knee. I rather him taking jump shots than putting strain on that knee this early
yeah its the knee, i play a lot of post offense when i do play bball and i cut up my knee pretty bad once and the next time i played ball a few days later i hurt whenever i pivoted and this was just on a semi-deep cut knee. it was pretty bad when i tried to spin lost explosiveness on the spin especially when the cut knee was the pivot/plant foot. i can understand yao's warynees when he has that knee brace on and he had displaced his bone. i had trouble with a deep cut. it'll be fine i think he'll be back up to speed for the playoff run
that 37 point game is fooling some people. he'll be fine and he'll get back to dominant status at some point, but he is clearly big time out of shape. he's nowhere close stamina-wise to where he was and that plays a part in what he can do out there. i think in a couple weeks there won't be questions like this.
Since he hasn't regained his full strength and speed, Yao may want to use some more pump fakes to confuse his defenders. At least FT is still his unshakable weapon.
yao just isnt back to where he was. It takes time for him as a big guy to regain that agility and "quickness" that he worked so hard to gain. I'd say its going to take at least 10-14 days before we start seeing yao turn the corner and get back to the yao we remember before the injury.
Mmm...Yao's just taking care of himself. And I'm going to argue that he should do it more, I have three memorable sequences of him rolling on the court on his knee...and that's three too many.
I miss his little baby hook in the Paint ..... Really the only year he put that in his arsenal was his 1st year here.
you should be able to guess what the cartoon is about. "A turn over (right) and a steal (left) of yao "
After watching some vids of Yao in his first 2-3 years, he was so much more creative. It was entertaining because he made behind head passes, going for big dunks or even attempts some threes... This season he seems to be somewhat boring to watch, not that it isn't effective. I hope he can become a more entertaining player when his injury is healed.
They have Sportscenter for that I'd much rather see Yao go for 25/9 then Yao crossing over big men and sinking the three. ...That would be fun though.
The double-teams that come to Yao are not trying to block his shot any more. They're focusing on preventing him from getting the ball, and stripping it from him once he's got it. When they see him spin, they try to strip the ball away from him.
Exactly. people take it for granted that a just recovered Yao is supposed to be a beast, esp after he put up 37pt on Howard. Give him some time to knock the rust off and keep feeding him the damn ball when he calls for it. Dont freaking waste his staminia while he is trying, he doesnt have much of those mana in his body.
