How did Tony D. end up in Houston anyways? NY do a sign and trade that brought him here as well? I don't get it.

Yes, you answered your own question well. McHale has seen what TJones and D-Mo did in summer league, in training camp, and during preseason games. I guess he feels that Patterson and Morris are the better players at this point in time, and deserve the minutes. And the Rockets did send Beverley to the D-League for three games. I guess they saw enough to bring him up to the Rockets so McHale could get a first hand look at what he could do. I see nothing wrong with McHale putting Beverley into a couple of games just to see how he responds.

I know people are anxious to see what D-Mo and TJones can do, but Patterson and Morris are our rotation players and I can understand why McHale and Morey may not want to remove them from the rotation right before the trade deadline.

I think the Rockets took a look at Beverley to see whether he could step in if Douglas is traded at the deadline. Now they have an idea (I don't). And Douglas is back to playing (to up his value).

Perhaps they'll try to get Daniel Gibson, perhaps they'll just let Beverley. But it isn't like Morey to let a final year player without a high likelihood of staying to play out the season. He'll try to get something for Douglas, if there's a taker.

TD is still playing elite perimeter D, so as far as I'm concerned, he's doing just fine.

Douglas is restricted so we can keep him next year. Aldrich is the guy we have to move, as he is unrestricted at season's end.
