No, it was a younger Schaub and a younger Andre and a team that wasn't playing with the lead a lot like this year so they threw the ball around. That year Schaub had 593 passing attempts, this year 518.

O-line can't create holes for Foster, play action no longer respected, no receiver other than OD and AJ can get open, Schaub forced to make elite throws when he isn't that good

Pretty much. Running game sputtered from the start, and so did the defense. That set up a recipe for fail. Decent adjustments made at halftime were negated by poor special teams play. And when we needed to execute for the comeback, we didn't.

**** happens. Playoffs start next week. Time to move on.

This. Plus we are literally screwing ourselves on 3rd downs on defense (stupid penalties) or offense (3rd and long).

The offense apparently suffered when Caldwell got replaced in the line up from sharing snaps with Ben Jones, who also promptly hit that rookie wall at the same time. This combined with bad play calling on both sides of the ball and horrible special teams (WHY ARE THEY TEACHING MARTIN to wave off a ball at the ten when opposing players are already behind him) lead to our loses causing Houston football fans hearts to break into pieces earlier this afternoon.

Our only hope is that our defense can win us the game because the offense is a joke outside of three players (Duane Brown, Andre Johnson and Arian Foster).

The right side of the line has not made huge holes like it did last year, but pressure /sacks on Schaub has come up the gut and from the left...mainly right up the middle...Terrible that instead of having 2 weeks to iron out details in the running game, they could be playing Saturday

I had to look it up.

    Arian Foster
Runs to the left side: 106; 3.4 ypc
Runs to left sideline: 54; 4.2 ypc
Runs to the right side: 85; 5.2 ypc
Runs to right sideline: 37; 3.4 ypc
Runs to the middle: 53; 3.4 ypc

I know people think that we run it to the right all the time but that's not even close to being the case. We're fairly balanced but we run it to the left more than we do the right. And despite having Brown and Smith on that side, we actually pick up more yards with Arian running to the right.

Is that measured by which side the play starts to initially? If so, it might be a little misleading since the cutbacks when going right are to the left of the line and vice versa.

it's the whole offense not playing as one. you mean to tell me schaub's arm got weaker since thanksgiving? not buying it. right now we're looking a lot like the 2007 texans, schaub's first year.
a lot of self inflicted damage at the most opportune time. And if we thought willfork worked over Jones last time, let me introduce you to mr. atkins, other than watt is the best interior d linemen.

To say that is like is to say we were never good. Schaub is good, but it's something else. He used to have time to get passes off and he quickly finds the open man. The Texans can cover up his immobility weakness if they make adjustments throughout the game and protect him. No quarter back is good without the offensive line doing their job. Guys aren't getting open like they used to, because we are too predictable.

Never been as good as the guy who piled up stats in meaningless games? Perhaps the expectations/pressure were just raised a little too high for him?

run game non-existent the past couple of games.. stop the run and that's pretty it for our offense.. schaub is not good enough to make/extend plays on his feet... 1st round bye would have been sweet

For a team with an immobile QB, an offense entirely dependent on using the run to set up the pass, and a strategy that relies on grinding it out to win the time-of-possession battle, they sure were quick to get rid of the right side of their offensive line.

Part of it was freeing up money for others, but (please correct me if I'm wrong) I believe Connor Barwin was one of those, and he's not in a position to demand a big payday now.

They'll need to use any money they were saving for Barwin on an o-lineman, plus use a high draft pick for one as well. The guys they have on the right side now are just a bunch of backups IMO.

The good news is that this can be fixed and we're still a relatively young team. The only worry is how many years Dre has left.
