Thats the friggin truth! Right after Brave New World came out, I tried for a week straight to get them to play something off of it since I had to wait till payday to get the album for myself. But for some reason, they just wouldnt do it..evidently that band is not on their allowed playlist. According to W Miller, she claimed that was a CC decision.. Give me back ZRock...that was a real radio station.
Here is the playlist for 94.5 http://www.mediabase.com/mmrweb/rronline/Stations.asp?c_let=KTBZ-FM i don't know how the hell Outkast is #2 on this list.
I hear ya on that one. I could never take a rock station seriously that plays Outkast and Eminem. Not that there is anything wrong with them, but I think that really hurts your credibility with the listeners. It makes them no better than 104, and that station really pisses me off. Once I heard them play Audioslave's 'Like A Stone' and cut out the entire Tom Morello guitar solo, I turned that station off for good.
Houston radio sucks...except for Rice Radio Reggae with Scottie on KTRU that comes on Wednesday afternoons or Pete's cajun/zydeco show that comes on Saturday mornings on KPFT.
Why can't 104 change there morning DJ's, they are horrible. I wish they would change their format as well. 94.5 is the only semblence of decent modern rock station in town.
Houston radio does suck. Especially in the morning. The Sam Malone show has to be the most awfully programming anywhere. That digusting cackle of Mary Todd makes me want to stab myself in the ears and/or blow up the KRBE building (sarcasm, I am not going to blow up any buildings). Thanks God for 610 in the morning except for all of their damn commercials. Indy has a few radio shows that are decent here. I just cant stand listening to music on the radio anymore (that applies to anywhere). Same crap on every station. There have to be 8-9 songs that are repeatedly played every GD HOUR!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE POP MUSIC!!!!!!!! VOMIT! VOMIT! VOMIT! VOMIT!
Radio does suck here. I can't argue that. That was the biggest reason why i bought a 10 disc cd changer. No longer do i have to be subjected to crap on the radio.
These guys were the best DJ's on radio in Houston. Granted ALL Houston radio suck sbut damn near everybody on that station especially Rex, Steve, and Jeff were WAY better than anyone else. Guess you listen to Rula and Ryan, though. pfft.
Steve was heavily involved with Buzzfest. This was his event that he put together. I thought he did a great job with that along with the morning show.
The reason Houston radio sucks is because of Radio congomerates like Clear Channel and Cox Communication. They have specific guidelines of which songs are to be played and which ones aren't. 101 klol now has a list of 'songs you cannot play' including some classics. 94.5 is the same. -- droxford
Can someone tell me why ALL of the background instrumentals when the DJ's are talking are hiphop tracks? I mean every single one of them.
I dont listen to the radio much, i just put the 150+ songs on a CD and listen to them on my MP3 player with the random feature.
I emailed the Program Director over at the buzz yesterday just to see if he would respond. I got some generic response about 5 minutes ago. Here it is I appreciate your concern about the recent changes we've made at KTBZ. Change is always difficult. Especially for listeners like your self who have made the decision to spend some of your valuable time with the radio station. Please know this decision was not taken lightly. After more then a year of monitoring ratings, gathering market and listener research and comparing the stations ratings with similar stations in other markets around the country, we felt a significant on-air change was necessary. The station was clearly under performing expectations. However, while some of the names are changing, KTBZ's dedication and commitment to playing great music, providing entertaining programming and serving the community we live in will not change. In fact, many of those community commitments, including our important "Santa Letters" program will continue. Over the next few weeks we will be introducing our new on-air team to the market. While I know you enjoyed our former dj's I hope you will give our new line-up a try. These new people are talented professionals who want to continue to meet your expectations of KTBZ while providing a new focus to our programming and level of relevancy to our audience. Again, I know these changes come as a surprise to you but I hope you will give the new programming a chance. If you do, I hope you will write back and let me know what you think. Regardless of your decision, thank you for caring enough to write. Sincerely, Vince Richards Director of Rock Programming Clear Channel Houston
