you can't compare stephon to mike tyson and kobe bryant...sorry that is just asinine. steph never raped anyone, went to jail, bit someone's ear off (literally), assuatled reporters, cheated on his wife, or basically get in trouble or do awful things. sorry, steph is a good guy and is going to donate more money by himself than the NFL.
Unfortunately, most of us, fans, dont get to know what the real person is for the sports figure. For years I thought Pippen was a decent guy 'cause he was kinda low key under Jordan and took a little money, plus he has a sexy voice. But, fans here would tell about him the oppsite way. I caught Randy Moss on HBO the other day. He looked to be an intelligent man with some decency. So just cant be judgemental based on what's happening on the court or playfield. Marbury was not liked much because lot of people think he is a trashing talking ego-maniaic, even calling himself starbury and not much loyalty. But giving multi millions to people who need is something that we should all respect.
Yo....read the quote ! Just talking about how one crying scene does not make someone a good guy. Steph is certainly proving to be a good guy.......
I saw the press conference as well and man did Steph pour his heart out. Glad to see players getting involved, I honestly thought the NBA's 2M donation was a pathetic, glad too see them starting a program for that. Has anyone heard of what the NFL or MLB has done?
I certainly care. I've never been a big fan of his overall game, and wouldn't want him on the Rockets. As for him as a person, I didn't think he was this passionate about his family and life in general. My view of him has completely changed. Props to Stephen for really showing his true character, someone who really cares about the lives of others.
Just because Marbury has an overrated opinion of himself basketball wise doesn't mean he's not a good guy. Another kudos to him for his involvement and showing his emotion in this.
Ray Kroc's wife may have given trillions to NPR, but I don't want her playing power forward on the Bulls.
Do not judge a book by its cover...it was true of Iverson and it's true of Marbury. These are good people who do good in their communities. Much respect to Starbury, although I am not a big fan of his basketball wise, but that has no bearing on him as a person.
I saw it earlier than this, too, at the celebrity softball tournament. You know, it was Marbury who seemed like he was having the most fun out of everybody. When he hit the home run, even though I never liked the guy, I stood up and cheered. It just seemed like he was very genuine and he was very enthusiastic towards his softball teammates. Count me in- Marbury's a class act.
I have always liked Marbury. He stands up for his team mates and he definitely has a good heart. I'm pretty sure if Marbury was on the Rockets he'd be all over Yao and be telling the world that he is the best to come. Heck I bet Suns fans right now think Francis is a jerk for that incident with Amare. If stephon would sign for cheap here I'd take him.
DD you still compared him to mike tyson and kobe bryant... and i'm not saying that he's a good guy just because he was crying at the press conference. i'm saying he's a good guy because he's done so many things in the past to help others and this is just one of those things.
Pretty dumb point Kobe and Tyson cried cause they did something wrong and they got caught. Anybody would cry to save their image (I'm not saying Kobe did that) Marbury wasn't crying to apologize to somebody. He was crying to express his feelings about the natural disaster that occurred in New Orleans. Kobe and Tyson were trying to save themselves. Marbury was trying to save others. Two totally different things
