Your logic doesn't make sense to me. Scola isn't a player McHale is going to bench because he played poorly the game before. McHale will read the situation in-game -- are the matchups favorable, are we playing better with him or without him, fouls -- and adjust minutes accordingly. In the case of Memphis, Scola got his 4th foul early in the 3rd quarter, we went on a 9-0 run to begin the fourth quarter to jump ahead, and while playing ahead he elected to go with a defensive lineup (Patterson and Parsons) to protect the lead because we had enough scoring on the floor.
I agree. I can live with the butterfinger and turnovers - at least I can see his effort on the offensive end. But his defense (or lack thereof) is totally embarassing to watch.
Didn't he have surgery/procedure this past off season on one of his knees? I don't think anything wrong with scola per se the league is just more younger and athletic then it has been the past few seasons he getting lazy scola plays the pf position but plays like a sf that can't dribble or rebound he can however be effective in the post if gets the ball in the rights spot but that's it scola has his uses just no longer as a starter imo...
He is not getting the ball in the same spots with this offense, if you can't see that then you are not understanding what is going on out there. DD
I don't think he can handle being the #1 or #2 option anymore. He needs a lesser role and he would be back in form.
No one is boxing out- that's the problem! On the offensive end its way to congested for Scola to spin and loop-dee-loop and make his scoop shots etc... so he falls back to be a jump shooter... On the defensive end, everyone parts like the red sea whenever someone drives and they get the ball up high with a full head of steam - and Scola cant defend that... Really disappointing, cause knowing how McHale played... that's rather confusing... Obviously we need another big who can play down low... This shortened and highly congested season looks to really be taking a toll on Scola especially... I cant believe I'm saying it - but we really miss JHill... go figure...
You give him too much credit. He didn't even make a point. Maybe next time he may actually suggest where Scola should be getting the ball that he isn't now.
I hate to say it but Scola looks tired and worse, he looks lost on this offense. He's trying too hard to find his shot. Before the ASB, the offense seemed to flow and there was good defense, but since then, they all look out-of-sync. What happened to Scola is a microcosm of what is happening to the rest of the team. March 15th can't come soon enough for me.
As soon as the strike was over and they crammed all those games together, it didn't take a genius to figure out a bunch of players would hit the wall and maybe stay there.
