I think that radio stations get pretty good tax incentives to air minority aimed programming which is why a lot of big companies like to have Latin stations in their mix. So, while it may make no sense to have yet another Latin station in Houston, it may make sense to the companies overall tax strategy. Just a guess on my part. Interestingly, hip-hop/rap stations don't count as "minority aimed programming".

ehh, it doesn't really matter. I listen to the radio for the rare occasion that i hear good r&B singing (Jazmine Sullivan's voice is really strong) or some old SUC stuff (I don't have a tape deck in my car anymore, lol). Other than that you're going to get the same mix of T-Pain/Neyo/Lil Wayne on 97.9.
Thats cool I listen to my Ipod mostly anyway, there is no Tejano crap there. As for the jobs comment...If "our" jobs are MOWING OUR LAWNS then yes I guess you are right...they are taking our jobs. Wish Sam Houston was still around : )

I noticed this change a couple of days ago but since I don't listen to 93.3 that often but have it on my presets, I didn't start a thread. I switched the 93.3 preset to 93.7 so I can listen to Walton and Johnson.
So basically management was stupid in changing the frequency without properly notifying it's listeners, but the employees pay the price with their jobs. Typical.
You'd never know LA is a diverse music market going by its radio stations. I think every city has its own repetitive playlist. (The World Famous) KROQ in LA, when I first heard it I was liking the different songs they were playing. Those same selections I kept hearing months after. 92% of the time their station is like 94.5 Buzz just different songs. The other 8% is A-list guest appearances, high profile concert events, and breaking in bands first. Indie 103.1 delivered big time on its name. The non-corporate rock radio choice by a mile. Now its just an online station after the radio frequency became spanish. Variety on radio is either at night when no one's listening, college stations, or certain few cities that support variety. I think everyone is content to become their own DJs now.
Nothing is as bad as 95.7, it's like a top 20 radio station but really they only play 10 songs. 94.5 also sucks and is in the same mold as 95.7, they play the same songs it gets really annoying, the songs aren't even good. Does anyone know of an alternative rock station other than 94.5?
I think that's it. Yeah, I really wish they had more rock stations. Occasionally, I listen to 106.9 or 93.7 for some "oldies" but mostly I just tune in to AM sports radio.
