Well, none of the starters are out there now & the defense continues to be completely porous. Not sure what happened, but it appears to have infected the entire roster.
We changed our defensive scheme over the offseason and centered it around aggressive perimeter defensive and funneling the other team towards an active shot blocking big man in Dwight. It worked really well the beginning of the year because Dwight looked like his old Orlando self and our perimeter players were fresh. Then Dwight got injured, our players like Ariza and Harden playing more minutes to compensate, Mchale failing to increase his rotation unless in absolute desperation. Now, Dwight has returned but is clearly not 100% and not giving full effort which this defensive scheme requires and our perimeter players have been run ragged. And here we are not even a half the season through, this is very scary.
Total lack of effort and putrid ball movement on offense. Teams are figuring james harden out how to contain harden and prevent him from being a setup guy. Rest of team Isnt really feeling it. Badly need a real pg.
I think they're just tired. They've been playing so hard defensively all season. I just don't think they can keep playing this intense all season. It's an 82 game season. Perhaps it's best if they pace themselves a bit.
I'm sorry, I love Beverley, but if a team has to start him then that team is not a championship contender.
This team make me cry! Time to make BIG changes. I'm so tired of McHale, Howard and Beverly. Smith is not a NBA player!
Exactly. There's too many guys right now who don't know where to be and what the proper play is on defense. The new guys like Brewer who do it, I give a pass to. But what the hell is Bev's excuse? I also think Dwight came back too soon from injury. But that's just speculation. He has not looked good at all. I'm having memories of when Tmac kept trying to play hurt. And then Josh Smith is just a negative in every facet because he's either a) washed up; b) thrust into too important a role too soon; c) still confused about the team scheme. I think it's a combo of all those.
To be fair it's hard to guard Asik and prevent him from driving from the 3 point line for an easy dunk.
Let's employ an actual scheme and proper discipline . No whoring out for big names and photoshopping Free agents in rockets jerseys holding a LOB...especially when those players are cancers.
I also think Bev, Brewer, and Smith are wound up too tight. Too emotional at times. Brewer's energy is more positive, but he can be overzealous. Papa can counter that, but he was dropped from the rotation...
Bad offense leads to easy baskets for the opposing team. Our ball movement was a thing of beauty when Dwight was out.
