There's no sense in responding to that poster anymore, guys. If he wants to call Martin the chucker on our team and Sacramento's team and he doesn't recognize that Evans and Brooks both are in a whole different league when it comes to chucking, then it's not worth our time to respond.
You are right that Brooks doesn't depend on whistles, but that is actually a large part of his problem. He doesn't get to the line much at all. Because of this he is not very efficient. This is mostly because of his small stature and lack of strength. Even a guy like CP3 is a lot stronger than AB, allowing him to get into the lane and draw and-1s a lot more easily.
Aaron Brooks walked out on the team during a game. Hes had his chances to prove him self if he wants to cry like a b**** he can move around. I dont know where this ego came from, but he better bring it back to reality. Very disappointed in hearing this news. He should lose a game check for a Hoe move like this.
Every PG in the NBA is stronger than AB, even if he was to hang around think long term, his speed is going to go and other than that he has nothing else.
you completely missed the evans brooks reference. It had to do with martin's in ability to play along side tyreke evans, a young and promising player. The analogy had to do with martin quitting on a team when people brought up brooks quitting on a team. In no way is there a comparison to evans here.
sample comparison. Record with him vs record without him? Your comparing multiple seasons of him on the team to one season hes not.
Nice reply. Scola and Martin were clearly signed to be compliments of Yao Ming, IMO. With Yao in the middle, it would have opened up the floor for both to operate. That's been said here many times and it's something I agree with. And Brooks is the only guy on the team that can create his own shot, which is why he would ordinarily be on the floor at the end of games. The big problem with AB this season, besides the injury, is that he seems to have lost his way. He hasn't been playing within himself, he's been wildly inconsistent, he's made numerous bad passes to go with the good ones, more than I remember seeing before, and while his turnover numbers aren't bad statistically, he's made several turnovers at crucial points during games. Again, more than I remember last year, just as I don't remember him taking so many ill advised shots early in the clock. Honestly, I really like the guy, but I don't understand what's going on in his head. Most players step up during a contract year. AB seems to have stepped back, and as of last night, imploded. What's up with AB? Maybe he reads this forum. That would explain a LOT. ;-)-
Why would Martin, or anybody for that matter, have a problem with playing with a young and promising player? The problem is not that Evans is young, the problem is that Evans dominates the ball to a degree ( and he really is not good enough to merit dominating it as much as he does) that is going to make players annoyed. Why do you think no good offensive player could exist with Iverson? It's the same principle.
He didn't want to play along side evans who at the time was doing much better than he was. Theres a quote prior to or after a game vs the kings this season he openly talked about his beef with him. I'll look for the links i remember articles citing his unhappiness in sharing shots and wanting a trade.
You want me to post a more detailed analysis of those stats? You posted some garbled stats straight off of ESPN without saying anything particular about them. You are a joke man. I have a math-related degree, had to take several statistics classes, and I made A's in all of them. From the depth of your analysis, I would guess that you made a C in one statistics class at a community college. But back to the topic at hand, because this isn't about personal accolades. It's one thing to have an opinion. It is another thing to deflect reality when it is staring you in the face. You like Aaron Brooks and are trying to call Kevin Martin a chucker of all things to deflect criticism away from AB.
the iverson example is totally flawe and towards an extreme.. Your talking about the smallest player on the court at times that took 30 shots a game at the pg position, at a piss poor %.
I went to a community college and made Cs. There you go, Its clear that you can't have a basketball related discussion or are mature enough to handle posting with intelligence and restraint. I think coming to conclusions about my life is far more easier to ascertain than kevin martin's role on an NBA team for you. I hope your able to come to a conjecture as to why I'm not going to respond to you anymore a lot easier.
Hey, I'm even less picky than you -- I'd rather have the guy whose looking to score! It drives me nuts to see Martin and Lowry make a move to get fouled rather than to score. I remember the play you're talking about, but I didn't have as much of a problem with the shot. Earlier in crunch time, didn't he hit a big baseline jumper in virtually the same spot? I seem to remember that -- I have no problem with him going back to that shot a few minutes later in overtime. If you're a good shooter and you get an open 15-footer, I won't get on you for taking it. It's tough to watch. I was a big proponent of starting Kyle Lowry to give us more of a balance -- but that 'movement' has suddenly turned into a "Aaron Brooks sucks" mantra. I feel like I'm in the minority now because I can remember how valuable and good he was for this team for the last two years. The conundrum is.. the one move that would probably jump start Brooks (and this team) is moving him back into the starting lineup. But how can you justify doing that when he's struggling? It's tough; the one thing that might help Brooks stop struggling is also the thing you can't do because he IS struggling. You don't reward players for poor play -- especially when the replacements are playing relatively well. EDIT: and his latest episode has killed any thoughts of that happening. You don't reward for poor play, but you especially don't do it when they pout like this. The only way around this is to make a trade. I've always preferred Lowry to start (though I am now re-thinking that), but wanted to keep Brooks if one of them had to go. While I agree that Lowry contributes in more areas, but I feel like the one thing Brooks does really well (1-on-1 scoring) is harder to replace. I think Morey once said that 20 point scorers weren't easy to find (in reference to Martin). I put Brooks in that same category. The problem with trading Lowry is getting him to agree to a deal -- which I think he would be open to so long as it meant him getting the starting PG spot on his new team (the man was willing to go to Cleveland for it, after all).
In man on man situations, I would take Scola over Brooks at this point. I'd rather have Scola working a single defender over in the blocks than have Brooks juking to get off a long bomb. It's simply the more efficient basketball play. And Scola is absolutely sensational one on one against any single defender with his back to the basket in the post. Sure, Brooks can get his shot off on any perimeter defender. He absolutely can create the space to get his shot off. But he doesn't hit them at high enough rate. Those are bail out type shots when we can't get anything else going. When the offense breaks down and we gotta have somebody take a bail-out shot, Brooks is the guy I want taking it. But by the same token, if the offense breaks down more than twice a game, it is likely due to somebody or somebody's not following Adelman's rules and moving the basketball and moving themselves. I don't want to see Brooks taking a myriad of bailout shots. Scola is our best one on one offensive threat. When you clear the area and he is one on one on the blocks with a defender, we are in a very good position.
No, you don't reward players for poor play, and after last night, it would be rewarding a player for walking out on his team. As for Lowry and the starting spot, he's got that starting gig now, and AB seems to have torpedoed any reasonable chance he had of earning it back. I'm stunned at just how badly AB has screwed things up with the Rockets. It's almost like he's trying to force a trade, which is nuts, I know (and I don't think he's doing that, to be clear), but unless he's really lucky, he may end up getting dealt to a team worse than the Rockets. Which is why we've been seeing Scola doubled so much more than he used to be. Great point.
I agree, his mentality has got to change if he wishes to play in this league. And him earning the starting position back is a bigger long shot than it ever was before.
