my definition of tanking: Playing your youngs that have potential even though they arent as good as you vets thus not playing your vet so trade them for more youngs or picks
Tanking = stop playing team basketball and start letting players ballhog a little more this will ensure us to lose games, as soon as players start looking "good" with their ballhog skills trade them away on draft night for a chance to move up, this will at least take up to the 5-6 pick or higher, assuming we get the 7-9 pick and with morey's drafting skills we are in a good spot to steal draft night! after that we go back to playing team basketball
And your sentiment wasn't without foundation; the Rockets themselves disclsoed at the time that his injury was career threatening just by itself, not even considering his previous 5-years of chronic breakdowns. That was the time to hit the reset button and it was obvious then - Scola wasn't, and likely isn't going to help the team in any more meaningful playoff series throughout the rest of his contract. He'll help them to .500 or so seasons...that's a waste for both sides. They should move Scola and Martin now for young talent, even if it's marginal.
There seems to be posters defining tanking with the same definition as rebuilding. Tanking is intentionally loosing games. Rebuilding is trying to develop young talent to lead the team in the future.
