I'm not sure where everyone is getting all this injury info but he really hasn't been that bad. The biggest asset he brings in depth to our older backcourt and also being able to play some SF to spell T-Mac a bit. He appears to be a solid player from his stat sheet and what I have read about him. I see him as another solid role player to compliment Yao and T-Mac. I like the fact that JVG told him he would have to earn his playing time and DA accepted that challenge... :)

I think you heard the concerns and limitations from a number of posters:

-He is a fairly average shooter with mediocre efficiency. Probably a little better J than Sura, and a little worse than DW.

-He does not break you down off the dribble and can't get to the rack like he used to.

-At this point he has average to below average quickness for an NBA guard.

His biggest plus is that he is versital, he can shoot OK, pass OK and above average is discipline and knoweldge. Though SG is his best position, in a pinch he can play PG or SF. He isn't really exploitable (i.e., poor) in any phase of the game. He is a solid, well rounded, player who doesn't excell in anything, but who is smart enough and has enough all around skills to be very usefull.

I am not saying they are identical players, but I'd compare his all around skill set a lot with Sura's or Wesley's--guys who made good role players for us last year. I think his jumper is a little better than Sura's, and he gets to the hole a little better than DW. But I would say he is as strong and tough as neither, and certainly does not excell on the boards like Sura. I think he does not replace any of our other vet guards but is another good compliment to them.

The rockets will still need to find a long term answer at shooting guard, however, this is a good stop gap measure. Nobody should have huge expectations, but the guys knows how to play the game and gives the rockets a little more athletcism, something that was exposed against the mavericks. Swift and Anderson should help out in that area.

I just hope he gets out of Blazer mode and adapts well. Remember when Wesley first came to the Rockets, he had developed bad habits on a bad team. Hope DA adapts well.
