What EVIDENCE do we have that Morey is doing a great/good job?

Lmao. You're only making my point more valid. The Lakers struggled with pick n roll because Gasol and Bynum lack of foot speed out on the floor (the same way we struggled w/ Yao). When you have two bigs with limited lateral quickness, you're going to have problems with pick in roll. That's basketball 101 my friend. Obviously Morey didnt calculate this in his +/- stats

It's not a deflection. If you actually WATCHED any games last season you'd seen how Budinger was a complete liability on defense. There were times even Bill Worrell commented how bad Chase was defensivley. Maybe you should stop relying on +/- stats and watch a NBA game for once. This is my main gripe with Morey too. He's terrible at making basketball decisions and relies too heavily on PER stats.

I'm new at this and I don't know to much about plus minus but when I watched the rockets game budinger was getting abused. I remember one game when it got so bad that the other team was running iso's for James Posey. You must be pretty bad on defense when James Posey is going off.

Success has to be looked at from different angles: (Team) Championships & (Business) Financial Solvency

Has the team won a championship during Morey’s tenure?
    - No (Explanation below)

Has the team been financially solvent in the midst of the largest recession since the great depression?
    - Yes
    How was this done?

    - Morey has a HUGE part in the financial success of the team because of his belief in AND execution of player analysis and bargain shopping. He has accomplished this by signing players to short or realistic contracts that match their value on the court, evidence in the Lowry and Scola signings. Morey has been able to find middle - high quality talent to fill his roster around 2 max salary guys affording him financial flexibility and liquidity in an otherwise broke league. The Rockets are one of only a few teams that actually earn money. Not only do they earn money, they do it with .500 - teams. That speaks volumes!!!

What has caused Morey to take so much criticism is the fact that his two franchise players (Yao & McGrady) lost their careers to injuries IN THEIR PRIMES, let me say that again, IN THEIR PRIMES! This was out of his realm of control and destroyed his plans for the team. No GM can bounce back from that gracefully, it doesn't matter how competent you are in the job that is a tremendous blow to any Manager. People may blame him now for the record of the last few years or the potential record of 2011-2012 but he is still reeling from the wake of those losses and doing it with dignity.

Morey has clearly put a tremendous amount of effort into putting this team onto the right track and has subsequently been undercut by a corrupt league. HE aligned the stars for a stellar frontcourt headlining Pau Gasol / Nene / Chuck Hayes / Patrick Patterson and a few extras: Hill / Thabeet all while having enough backcourt depth to justify the loss of Kevin Martin with the likes of Lowry, Lee and Budinger. Imagine what he is experiencing right now knowing that he may not get a chance to create this perfect storm for another couple of years.

Though the Rockets may not be able to compete for a championship for some time, know that the man behind the curtain deserves a round of applause for his ingenuity, his tenacity, his business sense and his love of the game! I am proud to have Daryl Morey as the Rockets leader and I give the man an A+ across the board.

Wow I thought I was a homer but your taking it to a new level. I'm a fan but I don't worry about how profitable the franchise is. Im sure Mr. Alexander has plenty of money.

Chase could've been the worst defender at his position last year. But according to johndo's +/- stats, he's a "underrated" defender. Yet my claims are baseless. I've given up:rolleyes:

Yeah, well that's just the way I see it. Being a businessman I respect what he's done.

I thought you were a Rockets fan. Maybe your really just a Les Alexander fan. Why do you care if he has 200 million in the bank or 250 million.

I just want to win games and your worried about uncle Les's bank account.

Sorry hold on I just threw up.

 Seriously?? Is this really an argument worth fighting here? You must just want to lash out at someone. What are you so pissed off about? You act like I criticized you somehow. You don't even know me nor I you so why target me?

Why are you so sensitive? I just find it funny that your main concern is not the success on the basketball court but the rockets success in the bank. It amazes me that your backing up the Gm because he made the rockets some money.

If it's like that you should be bashing him for not signing Yi. Yi would make the Rockets money. It's all about money so why don't the Rockets start Jeremy Lin, Yi, Sun Yue, Wang Zhi zhi ang Mengk Batteer. They would be the worst team ever but hey at least they would make a ton of money.

Clutch, is this the kind of irrational, angry people that are supposed to run rampant here? Doesn't make it too fun to read.

Okay because I'm done addressing this issue I'll make one last point and then you can bash me all you want. . . . since that's what you want to do and that is what this forum is all about.

I want to see this team win as bad as anyone and have been just as upset as everyone else that we haven't won a championship and don't have the players we wish we could have to do it but there is more to it than just that and Morey's job is to make the whole thing work. I commend him for his work in keeping the team financially viable as well as putting an entertaining and competitive team on the floor each year. Period.

Have fun trying to make me look bad now because you feel the need to.

You know it is still possible to spend a ton of money and use quantitative analysis to determine ways to maximize value right?

I never personally insulted you I just don't see things your way. Les will be filthy rich regardless of how much money Morey spends or doesn't spend. I want whats best for the fans while you want whats best for Les.

Alright, so saying that I take homerism to a whole new level and being too sensitive are not insults.

Let's just end it. You're right, I'm not a fan, you're better than me, I'm a piece of $hit, etc.

That's a fair assessment, what happens moving forward will define him for sure.

Wow.... you have some serious issues. In other news, I think you entirely missed Rokman's point.
