Freddy Adu can play, he just needs someone to believe in him and stick him in there.

He has so much creativity.....the USA really needs him to be successful.

She is the current top 10 women's golf rankings. I know nothing about Adu, but it doesn't sound like he is a top 10 player.

I was just thinking the same thing...It's a shame he's gotten nowhere...

My first thought was that there wasn't a proper US club to cultivate and grow his game...but he's been overseas and maybe just needs the right coach and situation...

Too much pressure? Maybe, but if you have talent, you have to have that killer instinct and drive to be the best...not sure if he has it...

He has it, but he keeps going to clubs a bit too large for his talent right now.....

He should find a situation where he gets to start every game, and his game will grow, he is only 20 years old still.

He's still really young, with consistent playing time he could improve. Some players like Messi explode onto the scene at a very young age, but others take longer. Different type of player, but Xavi didn't exactly set the world on fire his first few years. He was a consistent passer, but I don't think people were expecting him to develop into the superstar he is today. But he kept improving incrementally over time and at age 30 he is a much better player today than he was at 20. Adu is 20? 21? Too early to say if he'll be a bust.

It's my opinion that if he would have accepted one of the many Euro offers he had in his pre-teen days, we'd be talking about The Great Freddie Adu. He wouldn't have had the pressure placed on him being the top pick for DCU at 14 and expected to lift the profile of the entire MLS. Had he gone to Europe, he would have been allowed to continue going to school, while getting paid to play on youth teams and working his way up to the senior squad over time...in other words, be allowed to truly develop within a system of what would have probably been one of the top teams in Europe (I believe Inter Milan, ManU, and others were very interested in him). With that proper development, he could have fulfilled his potential.

He still only 20 and there's time. It could have already been happening.

^ I agree. Had he gone earlier to a european club, they would have developed him like they do with other big stars. It seems that any american players they take in at later ages just end up on the bench getting no playing time, or loaned to bad clubs where managers come and go, and the player is soon forgotten.
