it only makes sense that we go all the way this year, this is the first offseason we aren't optimistic about next year

No resaon to fret, this just makes a T-Mac for Rip-Prince deal more likely.

I hope Morey can get a 3 way deal with Rox (Rudy F) Cavs (Artest) and Blazers (West) happen.

Fill in players to make the cap work.

Well, I'm shocked. I think it's clear if we had wanted him back, we would have offered him more than 1 year. No way Ron could accept that. I still don't understand how he's going to make anything more than the MLE by going to Cleveland, but perhaps a sign and trade is in the works.

At this point, it's clear we need to blow up the team. T-Mac and Battier should be packing thier bags.

Wow, just a week ago I really thought we were the 2nd best team in the league. My what a difference a week makes :(

you're getting confused with Bird's Rights to Restricted Free Agent

RFA - right to match any offers from other teams

Bird's rights - can go over the salary cap to sign your own player

Sad news if true but BY NO MEANS the end of the season or world. I really like Ron Ron but you can't overpay (dollar and/or year-wise) for him. He's just that kind of player you can't so that with.

Morey ALWAYS has a plan. he's proven that enough. Sit tight Rocket fans, I have a feeling things will look MUCH better in a month or two.

The one thing I will miss the most will be his interviews with Dave Carmichael.

We can match any offer we want - but Ron doesn't have to sign up with us!

He is an Unrestricted Free Agent and can go to play wherever he wants with whomever he wants for however much he wants.

The only upside is that most contending teams are already over the cap and so could offer only the MLE. So we might be able to do some sort of S&T madness to get something of value back.

If it's with Cleveland, I'd S&T Ron for Ilgauskus and take a first round pick from Cleveland (or 2 seconds within the next 5 years or something). Ilgauskus would be a cheap 1 year rental and then he's off the books.

Sounds like a one year deal was offered to force a sign and trade, or to just get him to walk. Thanks for an entertaining year, Ron.

I love RonRon, but I figured this was going to happen. Oh well. Best of luck.

Maybe we can get the ball rolling on Hamilton/Prince or something.

Agree...I really like Joe Dumars as a GM so I dont think the signings today are the only moves he'll make because no way can that team contend for a title but now trading for TMAC would put them right back in the 2010 free agent hunt!

If we get the T-Mac for Rip/Prince deal then PLEASE sign&T Ron for Ilgauskus.

It would mean our big 3 became the "medium 3" Hamilton/ Prince/ Ilgauskus - but we'd make the playoffs, the young players would grow and only Prince would be on the books next season - the season that Ming is slated to return.

We'd be $20million under the cap with Ming, Battier and Prince on the books, options on Landry, Brooks, Hayes, Dorsey and White plus RFA rights on Scola and Lowry.
We could bring in a max contract and still have some useful peices to play with I guess.

I'm surprised the Rockets "Supposedly" only offered Ron a 1 year deal.
