Which country did you want them to use a black woman to represent the average in their country? Perhaps Israel? Or maybe Ukraine?

I think this has been posted before but I don't think the intention of the initial imaging was to compare beauty. It is more a compilation of facial features. There's no need to add scars, discolorations,moles,acne,etc.

He meant that instead of continuing to average faces by country they just said F it and averaged all west african women's faces together. Obviously, this was not done for western europe. Listing more of the African countries would provide a more true representaion of the world's population.

 

If that's average, then I must have low standards cause the girls I date don't look anything like that. Where is the Island of Dr Moreau chart?

 

Average in this study means having average facial features not average good looks. People who have average features are the most good looking. Example, someone with an average size nose would look better than someone whose nose is too big or too small.

I would really like to see what one composite for the entire world would look like.

It might simply be an issue of availability -- University of Glasgow just didn't have a lot of African volunteers for their study. But, the exclusion of North America is pretty odd. No US, no Canada, no Carribean. Also no Australia or New Zealand. If it was a simple issue of availability, you'd think finding Americans, Canadians and Australians would be pretty easy.

I wonder if they have some bias, thinking Americans, Canadians and Australians are just derivatives of their European colonists and don't have racial identities of their own.

Or is the problem the sort of salad bowl nature of the population. How do you have an average American that's 55% white, 15% hispanic, 13% black, 5% Asian, and so on -- though I think you could. Or, you could do black American, white American, etc like they did for China and India.

If I was in a bar and one of those women came up and talked to me, then asked to be excused to the restroom, where they then tagged out to another woman pictured, who then came back and pretended to be the previous woman, I'm not sure I could tell the difference 70% of the time.
