I know this sounds insane, but do we just let Parsons go and sign players to two-year deals so we can wait for the Summer of Durant?

dumber than a bag of hammers

I'd say this whole process has just been idiotic. Morey bet way too big and has given up way too much on the off chance the Rockets might -- might -- sign a big three type player. Now we don't have Asik, Lin, Parsons, a first round draft choice, and for what?

The Spurs have resoundingly shown that you can win with team oriented basketball (what a concept). Yeah, they have a big three, but they are all past their prime. And it's the team concept and execution that has taken them to championship after championship.

We've got two superstars -- whatever a superstar is -- and we used to have a decent supporting cast. We could have built on that foundation. Now unless Morey (or is it Moron) can pull a rabbit out of his hat, we won't be as good as last year. I thought T. Jones was developing into a top level power forward and D-Mo also had a bright future...I mean, even if we had pulled off getting Bosh, how much better would we have been? Great starting five, but no bench.

Parson is a nice player, but he's not worth $15 large a year. We should have signed him to a substantial extension, paid him what he deserves, but $15 mil a year?

So -- enjoy the season folks.

How would this trade exception from NO work? anybody, anybody, Bueller?

    David Weiner ‏@BimaThug 3m
Can match Parsons then operate OVER the cap. Will have full MLE ($5.3M), BAE ($2.1M), $8.4M TPE (Lin) & plenty of NG'teed deals to trade.

target would be a salary dump I guess, but whom?

Um, let's not flush two prime years of Harden-Howard down the crapper.

Isaiah Thomas just signed an offer sheet with the Suns. I say we go offer Bledsoe a contract.

What you said makes too much sense for some people on here. 3rd star = ring was apparently a prophecy they have to follow Morey off the cliff for. We just spent an entire off season courting other players like sluts (throwing all our chips in..) while disrespecting and placing little value in our own. The writing has been on the wall, not sure why people are surprised.

I just don't think adding Deng or Ariza or Pau will make us a title contender.

Could sign two free agents before matching Parsons. Use the Asik and Lin trade exemptions ($8.3 Mil) to bring in two more players.

Dwight is gonna leave bro...being honest...signing Fegan's Parsons is pretty much our only option...

Riley wasnt this smart...there is no way they would intentionally offer a 34 year old a max deal that wasnt Lebron...smdh...

Seriously thinking this has collusion with the Mavs written all over it...

Agreed, Bledsoe is a Lowry type player when healthy. Not a bad Plan E...

Jesus F Christ. I go grab some lunch and all of a sudden its a shtstorm.

These next few hours/days will test Morey's mettle. I'm really curious as to how he's going to rectify this curveball given that he just traded away two great role players in Lin and Asik in hopes of landing Bosh.

If I'm understanding this correctly, resigning only Parsons would murder our flexibility going forward and basically leave us with a team that is WORSE than the first round exit team we fielded last year.
