What does it take to get Yao to shoot the damn Ball?

Larry Brown saw plenty of stupid Rox play. Otherwise he would have more reasons to pursue the position.

 

JVG would not be able to do much. He has nothing to fight against stupid Rox players now. The only thing he probably could do is to trade.

 

Cato and MoT couldn't shoot last night. Indiana took advantage and double teamed Yao all night and left Cato and MoT open. Yao is too scared to shoot the ball when double teamed.

Teams will continue to leave Cato/MoT wide open and double team Yao, all season long.

Too bad Rockets do not have a legitimate PF.

I agree with RR. Yao needs to demand the ball! Watch a Lakers game. Shaq is doubled every time. He still gets his shots. A double team shouldn't stop Yao, is he is as good as the hype.

Watch how hard Shaq works for position. You don't see that from Yao. Yeah, he isn't as strong as Shaq, but at his size he can use leverage.

Everyone in the arena knew that Hakeem was taking it to the hoop. Everyone knows that Shaq is going to drop step baseline and dunk it. Shaq gets called for at least 1 charge per game, and its worth it. Once you get run over by Shaq, you get timid. You start playing on your heels because you know that this 360 pound guy is trying to run through you on his way to the hoop.

Yao needs to turn and try to go through the defender. He's probably going to get the call, but if he doesn't so what. Picking up an offensive foul in the 1st quarter isn't going to kill him/us. Until Yao picks up the intensity, he's Rik Smits.

 

I'm sorry to burst the bubble of the hype. Yao is no Shaq. Yao is no Hakeem. I can probably name a few games in this league who can beat a blatant double team in the post. Shaq is one. Duncan can do it too. I can't name really another player who can do it. Can you?
