See, that's my thinking as well. That is what makes Evan Turner an interesting name. His ability to "drive and dish" is something we can't get from our other backup wings. Can play multiple positions and is a good wing defender. Basically a poor man's Iggy.

Turner is due for his pay day though.
I'm not so sure, but some team may offer him close to MAX, like $50-60M over 4 years. Are you ready to take Evan Turner as your 3rd star of the team?

I will feel a lot more confident in Luol Deng, and be willing to pay him $11-12M/year going forward.

To be honest, I do not think we will get an upgrade on any position for trading Asik.

    i agree. overvaluing asik.

he is a starting center but some of these suggestions are just ludicrous.

he alone *might* be worth a lotto pick if someone really needed a center now.

that said, we don't need a stretch forward. we need a big forward. someone who can play both the 4 and the 5 position. he needs to rebound. he doesn't have to be a good defender per se. we do have howard. what are you going to do, put howard's backup in for defensive purposes?

we can get that cheap enough so the question is what can we get asik for that we can consolidate pieces. come playoff time, we're not going to play 10 deep. we need a solid rotation of 8-9 players unless injuries. that means 2 PG, 3 wings, 3 bigs, and possibly one more.

you have lin and bev with lin possibly swinging to play SG at times. you have harden and Garcia at the small wing. you have casspi and parsons are the big wing. you have jones and howard. that's 8.

that means asik, dmo, gsmith, brooks, brewer plus any of the 8 above to upgrade or add a 9th rotational player.

if you are upgrading the PF position and you choose to upgrade the starter, note that tjones is not going to play much if he backs up because offensively he's not a center. he might be big enough to play center defensively. now you might be encroaching in on casspi's time possibly as a stretch 4.

you can't really upgrade SG or SF unless you trade harden or parsons. yeah right. what's deng going to do? 6th man of the year? oh wait we already have lin.

how about PG? rondo? to do what? Beverly already plays too much and lin is better offensively.

so the only thing that you are looking from Houston's standpoint is to upgrade your bench with players who can come in knowing their roles. older vets that provide certain skills with contracts that won't hurt. or just a pick.

unless you want to upgrade starting position, stick with backup role player discussions. if you want to upgrade starting position, which position? decide the need first before choosing a player.

Paul millsap would be my first choice. Only because he's a talented defender and he's a got a good mid range jumper and can really grind in the paint. Ryan Anderson would be my second choice. He would open up dwight a lot more but I still think paul millsap works better for us and for Atlanta. Asik would be center n al horford could go back to pf. It's just that it would be odd to trade a player you just signed.

I clicked Illyasova, but would also be ecstatic if we could land Ryan Anderson and happy with Spencer Hawes or, to a lesser extent Milsap.

I think that we could fleece the Milwaukee Bucks out of Illyasova & a pick for Omer & filler, because The Franco look-a-like is playing pretty mediocre basketball this season, & is struggling from 3pt range. Anything less than Illy & a pick would be a loss on our part.
I believe the same thing goes for Philly, we could get Hawes & one of their 1st round picks.

Bucks might also give us the Greek Freak if we include some young filler...like Canaan perhaps? They've always had a thing for undersized guards that like to shoot.

The big question is 'who is going to mesh the best with Dwight & Harden?'

I believe that would be Ryan Anderson. He is a veteran, knows his role & can shoot lights out. He & Dwight also have that 'connection'.

Not ersan, contracts $8mill a year until 2017, not worth the risk

    3pt 25% this season
    3pt 16% in December
    4.5 rebounds this season
