No to teams in Europe, the jet lag, the different time zones, and the long flights are not good, to be doing every week or two weeks and play at high level, would not work.
What were you smokin when writin this thread. International teams would lead to jetlags/ problems with different timezones and giant costs in transport etc. Women can never play with men in professional sports, because of their lack of strength/athleticism compared to men. What cracks me more is that people are even considering that. Like some of you said, the only thing worth considering is a competition with the best teams from international leagues.
We will probably see a woman put in the NBA just for the PR and $$$ it would generate for greedman Stern. I remember a few years back here in Australia there was talk of Lauren Jackson playing a few games for Sydney in the NBL and most thought at best she could be a bench player and spot up shooter. So lets face it if the world best female player probably wouldn't make an Australian league team its a long way off happening in the NBA. Would love to see improved international club play, the only way it happens though is somehow making the NBA teams take it serious. How would you do that? a big paycheck obviously. Would love a champions league little tournament after every NBA season. Something like this say... 2 Groups. Group 1 EC Champ Euro Finalist 1 WC Runner Up Best Oceanic/Asia club team (determined by an earlier tournament) Group 2 WC Champ Euro Finalist 2 EC Runner Up Best South American club team Cross overs and then a final. If it was taken serious and gets a big TV deal and pays the winner a lot you could see the NBA teams take it serious I think.
I like the idea of an International Tournament and your groups are good. Only problem is I don't think the EC/WC runner-ups can compete because if the runner-ups win, it undermines the NBA champ. It leaves an odd number of teams though so most likely, only the Euro/NBA winners will be in it. And to be honest, South American ball isn't on par with NBA or Euro ball yet...they'd get mopped up by either winners. All the best South American players go play in Europe or USA.
The reason the title can be called world champs is because if the lakers team went and played for the world FIBA championship im pretty sure they would have won.... the best of the best play in the NBA and other players from other countries if they are good enough come play for the NBA.
