I was simply pointing out the inconsistency of you criticizing someone for thinking they know what's in your head, when you're doing the same thing with Vince (yeah, I'm sure it was a dig at Bush when they're obviously friends) and other posters. In addition, please point out where I said that Vince should win the Heisman over Bush. I think both are very deserving of winning and have both had great seasons. I do think it's a little unfair that Young was criticized so heavily after the A&M game while Bush had three or four relatively mediocre games in the middle of the season.
I don't think anyone on this board is "impartial" to UT. They may say that they are, but they likely aren't. And good for Reggie for being a #1 prospect, what does that have to do with the Heisman? I think both deserve the Heisman, and if Reggie wins, good for him. He seems like a good guy. However, you started this post under the guise of "this is not a VY or UT bashing thread" when you know that it was and every thread about UT deteriorates into that. I just don't buy that you're nuetral to UT.
He called the guy a highlight and then said but he's a good player. He wasn't joking, watch the interview. He was giving his opinion. If he was joking, he should join the World Poker circuit tour. Dude, it's impossible to even talk about Young here. I made the mistake by even thinking that I could (even by eliminating Leinart it didn't work). Nobody said Vince hasn't had a great season and isn't a deserving player. He's just not the best this year. The funniest thing is that I'm in the minority here but anywhere else this debate wouldn't even be close. Take this anywhere but Texas and California and you have Bush by a long shot. He had like 80% of the vote on ESPN. Young jumped out as the frontrunner when Bush had those bad games but recalimed his spot. It's just that simple, Bush is the better player.
Hard to judge tone or intent on the net, but this sounds like a dig at UT fans and/or Vince. You're not impartial. You may not be as loud as bigtexx, but I think you have negative feelings regarding UT. Also, stats say that Bush is pretty much an avg KO returner. Not saying he couldn't be great, but stats state otehrwise right now.
Really, is that why I was at the Big 12 championship game this weekend? Did I go to see them lose? Most of my friends went to UT. The funny thing is most of them don't jock Young like some people here do. They think he's had a great year and are super pumped to be going to the Rose Bowl but not one of them thinks he's better then Bush or deserves the Heisman trophy over him. In fact, one of my best friends said it's actually kind of embarrassing to a lot of them how ridiculous some of the fans have gotten (especially the bandwagon fans who didn't even go to the school). I'm a Michigan fan, so I'm neutral to UT. I've lived in Texas all my life, I'm at the very least neutral to UT. I liked Roy Williams, Derrick Johnson ect...... The reason Young takes such a hit is because he gets way overrated. If people would be realistic there would be no debate. Some UT fans actually make me want USC to win and that's sad because the only Texas team I really hate is the Cowboys.
No, that's frustration at some of the fans on this board. I don't judge UT fans by the ones on the internet (otherwise I'd hate most of my friends) because for the most part the homerism is out of control. I might go out on a limb and say it's as bad as Cowboys and Mavs fans. Calling Reggie Bush a below average kick returner makes no sense to me at all.
Sure, maybe 80% of the people outside Texas would vote Bush for the Heisman, but 80% wouldn't say he was overrated. He's not. He's a great football player who's had a badass year. Read, if people would only agree with my opinion and quit arguing with me. Whaaa!
Vince Young has never said anything or done anything wrong. He is the only reason they are playing for the national title. He is the best college Qb ever, just look at his efficiency. He will be great in the NFL. Reggie Bush is only considered great because of sportscenter. Vince Young gets no hype. Every interception he threw was not his fault. When he played against AM he was injured. Vince won the rose bowl last year by himself. Bush has leinart, that is the only reason he is good. Leinart has bush, that is the only reason he is good. Signed All UT and Vince Young Fans
This is getting super frustrating for me to continue to explain things to you. However, I will continue to try. I think reggie Bush is a better player then Vince Young. I'm not a UT hater and I don't like USC ( I actually like Young more then Leinart I just think......I'm not even starting that up). I don't like A@m. I actually like UT more then USC (except for when I'm in the confines of this board). I'm impartial I just recognize Bush is better. Let me give you an example. I'm a Michigan fan. I like Chris Webber. I don't like the Spurs at all. However, I can recognize the fact that Tim Duncan is better then Webber (even when Webber wa in his prime). It's leaving in reality and not being a homer.
People would acknowledge he's having a great year. I personally think he's overrated but i may be in the minority. However, so are most of the UT fans with the opinions they have expressed on this board. I could careless if you agree with my opinion or not. Trust me, you're doing much more crying then me.
So basically what you're saying is that since many of us are UT fans, we can't have a valid opinion on our players and your's is right because you don't root for UT? I think that's the problem many are having with you. You're right and we're wrong because we root for UT.
Wow, you know what's in my head now. You must be psychic. You should use that skill more often, what a joke. BTW, there's nothing for me to cry about. So, Vince won't win the Heisman...big deal. He'll come in second to a great player. Not to mention, he'll probably come back and be a frontrunner for the award next year. I think he and Bush are both out of this world talents and they'll both be playing against each other for the national championship. I have absolutely no reason to cry. I certainly would not have started this thread had Bush made those comments about Young, especially considering their bet.
I've been calling Bush the heisman since the fresno state game as long as he performed against UCLA which of course he did.. But It's really hard argue that logic. I'm guessing Vince is the first QB to accomplish that. This should be alot closer than what probaly will happen in New York. Back to the thread. There is nothing wrong about hyping yourself up a tad bit espically since Reggie appears to be runnig away with this. Vince is just saying slow down check out what I've done. Nothing wrong with that in this sportscenter era.
Its ok Vince will get used to 2nd place in lots of things he has been doing it all his life. He lost in the high school playoffs to reggie mcneal.
No, by all means, do us (and yourself, as it must be tiresome to be a genius in the company of such simpletons) a favor. Stop.
