The difference between Tyreke and Francis is that Francis was a SG in a PG body. He also wanted to be a PG. Tyreke on the other hand is a SG in a SG body. He can pass and he can rebound and shooting at a very good percentage for his rookie season. Tyreke has the potential to be very very special.

It was disrespectful for the other Kings players, including Carl. I blame it on the coach. Wasn't Tyreke's style of play the reason KMart got all frustrated when he returned from his injury in January?

This is the difference between the Rockets and the Kings. The Rockets under RA stress winning while at the same time are able to accomplish other goals like developing key pieces for next year and developing the new guys.

The Kings highlighted individual play over team play. This is the team that featured Kevin Martin’s offensive prowess over the past 3-4 years while continuing to lose badly season after season. You only hope next season Westphal would know better with the players he has on his team otherwise it will be the same story.

I think our rookies Chase, Jermaine and Jordan and even Trevor and Kevin (I think he has to unlearn a lot of bad habits) imbibed a lot about the character and ethos of our Rockets these past few games after we were eliminated from playoffs. Patience, not giving up, playing through bad spots, the level of effort required to win, trusting your teammates (like what Kevin said in the interview)--all more valuable than indivdual stats.

I dont mind going for a record when your team isnt going to the playoffs and needs games, that was a nice end to finish a bad season for them, also yesterday was the last home game season, so they wanted to thank the fans, for their supprt and stuff, so I dont mind.

I like how they always use both his first and last name when saying his name, and say it so declaratively

Napier: "Tyreke Evans takes the ball to the left wing. Tyreke Evans dribbles around a screen...Tyreke EvaaaAAANS.....MISSES the lay-in"
Reynolds: "Rockets are putting more focus on Tyreke Evans this quarter..."

You don't hear Worrell, Drexler and Bullard doing that. "Yao Ming" is as short a name as you can have and we never hear what "Yao Ming" is doing. Yao has been straight "Yao" for almost a decade.

It was the Kings last home game of the season of a miserable season. He needed 24 points, well within reach. Its not like he needed 65. Plus I dont need road announcers slobbering over the Rockets great team play, hard hat mentality and over-achievement. Something to get the fan base pumped up, with little to nothing to play for.

    That said

It was still irritating at times. Announcers were in full promo-mode. "Regardless of outcome we will talk to the man, Tyreke Evans, after the game."

The Kings arena was in all-out rockstar showcase mode. It was a bit much

Meaningless game. You've got to make it interesting somehow as a fan, announcer, or marketer. I know that there were a lot of Kings fans watching that game because of the stats that wouldn't have been watching otherwise.

didn't one of the announcers mention that the team was trying to help him get those stats? it made the game interesting nonetheless. i was hoping he would fall short and they get the loss just for laughs.

he's a great talent but i kinda see a lot of starbury in him. for some unknown reason i just don't want him to succeed. i think it's the way he's limp wristed when he walks.

    Honestly this seems pretty overblown.

The crowd got into it and everyone really got into the last minute of the 2nd quarter when he needed only 2 points.

Coming out of halftime he was very passive it wasn't like he came out of halftime doing the same thing.

The franchise was just trying to find something in this dismal season that the fans could get excited about. Not the classiest move but no big deal.

As far as the Steve Francis comparison he will end up breing just that if he does become a more reliable outside shooter and learn to score without dominating the ball.

Are you kidding me? Nobody in the Kings organization wanted to get a pointless win at the end of the season. The fans have been in full tank mode for a while. Just take a look at the game thread on the Kings message board. All they were excited about was getting a "lin" (loss that looks like they tried to win) so they don't screw up and drop a spot in what should be a decent draft. When Evans was going for the record and we took the lead and began pulling away, that was like the perfect storm for them. That's why they were so excited.

Can't really say that I blame them. (Damn you Juwan...)

There is a difference, people were calling Durant a ballhog but even if he's a ballhog he converts at an extremely efficient rate. The objective is not to get everybody to score, its to score as many points as you can. If Durant converts at a high rate then its ok if he has the ball all the time. Tyreke's efficiency is more similar to Monta Ellis rather than LBJ and Durant, no way does he deserve the extreme amount of touches he gets, esp. when nights like this when he got shutdown but still kept trying to force his shots.

Tyreke might turn out to be a superstar, but he could just as easily be the next Allen Iverson and headline losing teams his entire career. Either way I don't think his ceiling is high enough to reach the LBJ/Durant level.

Since when did Steve Francis have a reliable outside shot and learn to score without dribbling the air out of the ball? Steve Franchise is actually a pretty good comparison for Tyreke, the only diff is Evans has the height to actually be a SG.
