I prefer the classic, throwback uni myself. It has that distinct feel of having been there and having done that. Since we are a franchise that has been there, done that when it coomes to winning championships, I think our unis should express that and the organization should build from that. Look at the Bulls, Celtics, Pistons, Spurs, & Lakers. Championship organizations who continue to build on that through their chamionship history, not some new flash in the pan uniforms. Yep the throwbacks would be the perfect regular uniform and then they could have done an alternate featuring gray & red like their warmups and shootaround attire.
I hope Tad Brown & co. are reading this thread. The Rocket's history with uniform selection has been abysmal. I mean throwing out our uniforms after winning back-to-back championships for what...fan-designed dark blue pinstriped pajamas????! Give me a break. And then the current uniforms with their wacky illegible small space font with the bulky three-striped trim. It's not proportionate. And that shoulder width... I mean i'm no fashion designer, but it really isn't that difficult to please fans and boost jersey sales. Really.
This is exactly how I feel about it. While we aren't exactly the Celtics, we aren't the freaking Charlotte Bobcats either. This is a proud franchise with history and hardware. Our uniforms should reflect that legacy and some inkling of self-dignity. As it stands, we look like some pathetic stepsister with the "new age" mimicry, desperate for any form of acknowledgment, as if we're just happy to even be in existence. For the love of God, guys. Gain some self-respect. Bring back the logo and bring back the threads. You'll be shocked how much love the fans will show you in the sales when you drop the self-loathing marketing schemes.
Yea those throwbacks are beautiful. The lettering of HOUSTON gives it an old western feel that reminds you of a clint eastwood movie. I remember when we wore those throwbacks on TNT and Barkley commented how he wished he cuold've worn those jerseys instead of the "trash they had him wear" (space pajamas)
i don't think we're going to have a "western" theme to our jerseys as long as Yao is on the team. it's no coincidence that our alt jerseys resemble Team China's jersey.
Those are gorgeous. Would love for that to be our standard jersey and have that blue version as our alternate. That would classy.
C'mon Clutch! Make it Happen! Although, i'm not too high on the Red and Gray combo.. I think in the theme of going old school.. why not bring out the San Diego Green with Yellow and White Trim Rockets jerseys as alternate...
wow. even the san diego threads are eons better than anything we have now. they just don't make them like they used to.
I like the alternate jerseys but I wouldn't want to see them playing in them every night. I really like our current home jerseys but I think the away ones are much too bright. The alternate jerseys do look pretty classy.
No kidding. Why couldn't they have stuck with these with the shorts around today's length? They're just beautiful! The team has to get their heads on straight and quit jacking around with the uniforms. They keep embarrassing the fans with all the tinkering. The answer is right here!
I have the same problem with the retros as I do with the alternates...just too much yellow. That said, I like them both, but in only small doses. I would get sick of them if they were worn everyday. I like the alternates better though because I like the cut more and they aren't quite as boring as the retro. The slanted name is a nice nod to the championship years too. But jeez, I do not get those who love the retros, love the championships, but hate the alternates. Aside from the font, it's practically the same jersey. And they're not gonna use the retros as alternates because now they can make more money off a new jersey design.
immm i dont know about that... You're comparing 36 years of history for the Oilers to the Rockets having only 4 in San Diego.. So i'm going to have to disagree on that...
Darker red is always going to look better than bright red. Same with yellow. In fact, if the color looks yellow instead of gold, it's too damn bright.
I like the classic jerseys. The longer you keep a design the better the tradition and recognition of your team is. I say bring back the championship years jerseys for good. Those are classic. Look at New York and Boston...they haven't changed much and those are the easiest jerseys to identify.
These jerseys were gorgeous.
