No cool under pressure? Right, he sure was choking when he got that steal and took it coast to coast, finishing it with a spin move and lay up. Cuttino and Steve can keep up with Posey on the break? Give me a break! They are too busy waiting for the defense to get back so they can run an iso. Come on, Steve is seriously deficient in running the break, he litteraly slows down when he has the numbers! Cuttino is okay but really doesn't have the brains to understand what "pushing the ball up to get an easy shot" means. He is also a good finisher, but if he is the one leading the break then I assure you there won't be an ESPN highlight (unless they are making fun of him missing somebody wide open). Yeah, I won't criticize Glenn Rice, I believe he understands the team concept. And so does Posey. Either of them can get the ball to the post better than the guards. Are you from California? Because you need to stop smoking pot, and last time I checked the referendum to legalize weed over there DIDN'T pass. What is up with you guys over there, get a grip, you act like your in a different country.
I second that motion. It seems we have a mud slinging child in our midst. Maybe the earth will open and swallow him/her/it up soon. Go suckle on something.
I love you Texans...like a bunch of hot, sandy 4 year olds in the backseat of the car two hours away from home...so testy, but so naive, foolish, and endearingly humorous...thanks for the laughs "y'all"
And say what you'd like...Posey is a wildfire...a loose cannon...and he almost cost us the game last nite foolishly and will do it again if given the chace. Most NBA analysts and fans alike would agree Mobley and FRancis are spectacualr on the break, scoring a multitude of ways..if Posey can't throw it down, he'll probably just lose the ball. Californian and sober...41fan
Mr. C, I am in full agreement. There are so many points going abegging because we do run. There is nothing Dallas or the Kings have to run a break that we do not have. Nothing! I iwll put our group of SF, Mobes, Posey, Moochie, Hawkins against any other group of five in the league. At the very least they are top 5. So why not untilize that asset. It has to be Rudy. I cannot believe he has been preaching running and SF has not followed.
i think james posey is a great player. well at least hes better than kenny thomas. and is doing better for the rockets than kenny every did that season. and i think that james will play a big part for the rockets in the future.
well after tongihts game........26 ponts 8 asts 5 steals.......rockets win....cant be happier.....bout time we get back into being a play-off caliber team
Uhh yeah. Just one game though. He played very well and did very well in his role.....he easily scored...very easy for him cuz everyone is focused on Yao and Francis and Mobley. He should be able to score at least 10 points per game....he played great tonight. But I bet he it was just for one night. If he does it again on SUNDAY.....that would be great. Then we should resign him. He can be good at times...Lamar Odom would be better though.
Have you even watched a Rocket game? Posey is Rockets' only good player at fast breaks. Francis is terrible. Most time he need 7.9 seconds to even cross the half court.
Posey's play last night is exactly why I think he would be the perfect energy player off the bench for this team. He started the game with a ton of energy, attacking the hoop aggressively, stealing passes, taking charges, creating easy baskets for teammates. And the team rolled. I think he finally was able to play well because the team finally let him do what he does best, slash. He just never gets to do that at all anymore, because we already have 2 slashers on the court (Steve and Cat) and a big man that demands the ball every time. As a starter he's always going to be limited to standing on the perimeter watching. If he were to come off the bench and play with the second unit he would be more free to play HIS game and do what he did yesterday.
It warranted a starting spot last night didn't it? The man is finding his groove in the offense. Don't hate. How's that crow taste?
The only problem is he only does it 1 in 10 games. We need consistency at the 3 spot. I want a guy that can get 12 points every night for us and can play good defense.
Posey had a fantastic game last night, and I suppose he assured himself a position in the starting lineup a bit longer. But just because Posey did well, don't discredit Rice. He was 4 for 7 behind the arc. Very impressive. But Posey, dang. The beginning of the game was nuts. He really got us off to a wonderful start.
What I'm saying is I think he would play like he did yesterday more consistently if he were allowed to freely play his game. The Rockets are trying to change him into a player he's not. He's restricted to being just a half-court player that spots up and takes 3's. If he's going to be a starter on this team, that's all he'll ever be. If the team would change his role to a spark plug off the bench where he could play with the second unit and have the ball in his hands more often, he and the team would be better off, IMO. I think he can come off the bench, provide energy and hustle, and immediately make a lot of things happen, just like he did yesterday in the 1st quarter.
I agree with your positive analysis of Posey. But I think the starting unit can incorporate his talents. Steve and Cuttino just need to look for him more. And I don't see why he shouldn't be allowed to handle the ball a few times. I notice Cuttino does a few times, instead give those touches to Posey. Also, Steve and Cuttino have been getting around 40 minutes, and they got much fewer minutes this game. I think Rudy would like to keep them in the mid- 30 minute range, and if Posey continues to play well then that is possible. Rudy knows what he was doing with the trade. Posey brings a better transition offense, easy baskets, slashing, and very smart and savvy play. Those were all MAJOR weaknesses on the Rockets before Posey arrived. Yes, Posey has a questionable jump shot. But he can drain the occasional 3. And don't forget his defense! This guy is just too good to not start.
