I dont know if Piat-whatever has the kind of leadership we need from a vet. Has the guy ever won anything? Didn't he actually CHOOSE t stay with the Clips?

Good comparison. Although Augmon was more shut-down type on defense.

I like Posey. He certainly doesn't hurt you. The trade was beneficial because KT doesn't really fit in with Yao. Although ideally you get someone better than Posey at the 3, but he's the best option now.

I think we should withold judgment on Nachbar before he plays some real minutes. Not EVERY prospect from Europe develops. I lot of lottery picks from the past are not starters. But it's important too see how good he is first.

Meanwhile, I'm not sure Posey will be any better than he is now. I think he's reaching his physical prime, so I'm not sure how much untapped potential there is.

boki is our next 3 yrs no matter what... thats how long it takes to find out what you really have... but he will be getting a lot of time next year

plus i think posey makes a better backup to mobley myself, and plus i think he might be better than the hawk

I like the way Posey always finishes strong. No pathetic layups from him, he always throws it down.

Yeah, and he's lead our team in rebounding several games. And how many charges has he drawn? I also like the way he runs with the ball, he is by far our best fast break player. I would also bet that he gets to more lose balls than anyone on the team.

Posey was a great pick up for the Rockets, too bad he won't be back next year due to salary cap issues.

His game fits the Rockets style of play.

This is one instance where the salary cap is our friend. Posey has been little more than pathetic for most of his time as a Rocket. Last night he was just awful on both ends of the floor.

    Good Riddance James Posey.

The first month or so after Posey joined the Rockets and when he was playing decent basketball he led the team in rebounding 4 times. Since then he has tied for the lead only once with 6 rebounds and overall Posey is averaging less then 5 rebounds a game. Not very good for a forward. All of that would not bother me if Posey played good defense every game and was not such a disruptive force in our offense.

Role player. Has helped on defense at times. Not really much of an impact.

I think that the trade for Posey was a good trade, but he is poor 3-point shooter. The Rockets role players (i.e. the guys that are usually wide open when someone else has the ball) don't seem to be able to consistenly knock-down the open shot. This is a big weakness in Rudy's offensive scheme that feeds off double-teams. We need a better 3-point shooter as a role player (and this applies to Moochie and Hawkins as well) because Steve & Cat will always be guarded. Rice was supposed to be the long-range sharp-shooter for the Rockets, but he has been inconsistent this year or injured.

James Posey is the defensive stopper that a team needs to get somewhere. He hustles on defense and is a great athlete. It is good to see someone working hard like that on d, the rest of the rockets should learn from him. On offense though, he needs to know his role and quit firing up 3's

Why doesn't he step up for the mid-range jumper? Half the time he's so wide open you could drive a truck between him and the closest defender. He should use his quickness to get closer to the basket when he's left open and gets the ball.

In reality he is still fairly new to this team. He has far exceded my expectations. I think he fits well. I never wanted to lose Kenny. I hated it at first, but I think it will be a fair trade in the long run. Posey is young and a very good basketball player. This team will win a championship eventually.( And our bench is much deeper than the coaches will let it be! )

Posey is a real deal! he is the kind of 3 we need, not only he can shoot, slice in to alleyhoop, good defender and has excellent speed that Rockets really missed for years.

Posey will be Rocket next year, without a doubt!

Sarcasm, I hope? Posey has one of the worst jump shots in the league for a swingman. People don't even pay attention to him when he's wide-open on the perimeter. His offense is a liability, especially when he's not slashing.

    Jury's Still out on Posey

Truthfully, I haven't been all that impressed w/ Posey. I was a bit skeptical at the time of the trade. Although we solved the forward logjam, I'm not convinced Posey is the guy we need. The problems I have with Posey as a Rocket are:

    1) His "upside" potential seems capped; WYSIWYG- what you see is what you get and I think that what we see now IS the finished product. Can't expect Posey to develop into a prolific scorer, rebounder, or stealer.
    2) His offense is average to below average; Posey seems to get his points off transition the easiest. His jump shot is average at best and he has limited range. Rox need a bit more offensive juice, esp a consistent jump shooter to compliment Yao. Posey ain't the man.
    3) His defense is not all that it's cracked up to be; thus far into the season, I haven't seen the "prolific" steals. All I see is a guy who is quick to down the court but not one who can take a hefty defensive assignment and shut a forward/guard down.

Bottom line: Posey does a little bit of everything, but is great at nothing

Prognosis: Look for the Rox to dump him this offseason and instead, starting MoT.

    :p

Oh Yeah, and Posey is NO such Defensive Stopper

I know of NO games, since the KT/Posey trade, where Posey has made that "key" defensive stop to help our team win games. If anything, I think Posey's been an OFFENSIVE liability and a net-neutral addition on defense. Just look at who's in during the 4th quarters of late. Rudy's been going to Juaquin Hawkins and Maurice Taylor. Posey ain't all that he's cracked up to be and shouldn't be starting, IMO.

Actually......one time Posey stole the ball. He intercepted an inbounds pass. :)
And he actually does have like one interception which leads to a dunk.
BUT YEAH. You are absolutely right. A little bit of everything....but not great at anything.
    Start MoT?
    Uhhh no.
I wish we had someone who could actually shoot consistently and has the speed of James Posey. I mean......he can be a point guard too. Lamar Odom? Or Ron Artest? Or BOSTJAN NACHBAR? The previous 2 cost too much.
