We would be taking back more salary so we couldn't trade Trob to them first. We need to clear Trob's salary first before we can sign Dwight. However, I think we could trade just Asik for Garnett and Lee after.

Garnett's production has been stable for the past 4 years. He's been playing 60-70 games a season at 30min/game with a 19-20 PER. That's solid.

He's 36 years old now. I think the fairest comparison for him is Mutombo, who was still a very valuable contributor at age 36. Garnett is like Deke except much more mobile and with a great jumpshot.

Keep in mind we're not asking Garnett to still be a star. We're asking him to be the ultimate role player, for which he is supremely qualified. Asik is younger, but will never be able to hit a J or pass the way Garnett can.

Regarding youth vs age: players change teams all the time in the NBA now. Garnett gives us an excellent fit for probably 2 years, which is about what you want for a role player. It's the 3-4 year contracts for role players that have a way of ruining franchises.

You think Pierce would come off the bench?

    I don't think so.

Pierce would almost assuredly play both back-up wing roles. 10 at the 2 15 at the 3(some with Parsons at the 4 while KG/Howard sit)

Well stated! Pretty much what I was saying. Worth another read.

I'm with you. I'm actually surprised by how little support there is for KG on the poll. I think people are just too excited by continuity. In the Dream era, we were contenders from 92-93 (when we lost to Seattle in 2nd round) up through 98-99 (lost to LAL in first round). That's only 6 years, but we made drastic changes to the team 3 times to get Drexler, Barkley, and Pippen, with role players changing a lot during that time.

    lmao
people are saying no to this?

KG was one of the if not the best defensive players this year, yes even at his age.

    KG/Dwight = Championship.

I would think that Parsons start over Pierce since he's younger and knows the players on the current roster better. No? Pierce can be that scoring punch off the bench and a leader with the second unit.

I'm actually really warming to the idea of potentially getting Pierce and Garnett for one last run before they retire. Leadership and Experience along with these young players can really help here.

Oh common man the guy is a fierce competitor and that's it. What has he done off the court that's bad? If we could except Vernon Maxwell then Garnette is baby food. What scares me is his age, I will put up with all the rest to win.
