What do you consider tactful?

 

Just take longer and longer to respond if via text. Who has time to write a super long text explaining things during the work week. I just write back one word answers or for the person to call me if needing further explanation.

 

What do you mean by simple/ complex?

 

I would text, "I don't answer a question by text. If you want an answer, see me in person." Then if they actually know you and go to the trouble of showing up, you open the door with, "You had a question?" Whatever they ask you, say you haven't a clue. Next, tell them you have an appointment and you have to leave. Then leave.

"Hey I feel like you are asking me way too many questions. I appreciate you but please cut it way back."

Honesty always works. Sometimes it draws emotional responses but over time, direct and truthful people are always appreciated .

I get the sense that you don't want this person to stop asking you questions you just want them to stop asking so many questions. Could it be you are afraid that if you are honest with this person this person will stop asking questions entirely?

I'm with @theimpossibles1, be honest. There are a lot of people out here that ask too many questions. I know it's annoying, but just answer the question, get it over with, and keep it moving.

IMO, there is more energy spent asking a person why they are asking so many questions or abstaining from a question all together than answering the question.

If it is a question you don't want answer, say you don't want to answer the question.

The key to a great press conference I found is to never answer their question, just answer with whatever you want to say. Then you hold the power. And I assure you, everyone else is likely going to be a lot more interested and entertained. "That's a great question. You know what I was thinking about last night, orange beluga whales."
