By the way, I still had some checks from an old account that's no closed in my closet. They were printed by DELUXE, as well, but they were the free BankOne checks I got when I opened the account.

On them, the name, address and everything is in all caps, and the name is bolded.

Of course, my theory is that they are like that because it's easier anbd probably cheaper to print in all caps. If it was just the name, then I'd think something, but since it's the name and address, I figure it's probably cost-related or something like that.

If it was something sinister, there would be a requirement that it be done. And that requirement doesn't exist (and, as a matter of fact, I don't have to have pre-printed checks at all to make a negotiable instrument).

I'm going to talk to my bank about it next time I'm in there. You know, don't you, that you have just ruined my conspiracy theory! :)

Looking at the Whit-Co Website, I notice that they offer some designs that have the name not printed in all caps and not bolded. You can even get the name printed in cursive.

The bulk of the designs do have either the all caps or the bolded or both, though.

In their selection of business checks, though, they all have the name of the business in all caps and bolded.

I had no idea what you meant about Kennedy, but after a little more reading.... Just 3 weeks prior to his assasination...

What about Lincoln? I haven't come across that yet.

I'm thinking that this may be a detail which they cannot force on people but one which they, apparently, like to promote as a default choice for their own reasons.

What is the the water down there in Texas?
    paranoid juice?

Deluxe the nations largest check printer can print checks for you in any font or style your little heard dsires. from bety boop to dale jarret to standard green.

they all allow for script names, and you can have your name appear anyway you want on yout checks.

if your legal name is Edward, but friends call you bud, you can have "bud Smith" on your checks, and have it written is block, cursive, italics, coligraphy whatever.

If you ask for a counter check from your bank, there is no name even on those checks, so forget your paranoia.

I printed hundreds of checks while i worked at a bank and i assure you, Routing number and account number encoded in magnetic inc on the bottom is all that the federal check clearing services care about.

Now where I work I have 2 different customers with no name on their checks, no address, just a simple very plain check with bank dollar amount act etc on it.

    now stop watching conspiracy theory

i'm tired of the man holding me down with all caps

    ---------

Bobrek: knows his banking. If it has the right info, you can write a check on an envelope, and font is immaterial.

    ---------

Whoever posted the govt. link: thanks. it's amazing how many people think the Federal Reserve is a private corporation outside govt. control.

You want to worry, worry about PNAC, the Trilateral Commission, the Bilderberg Group, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the World Bank. The fed is small potatoes, simply one government entity largely controlled by the interests it allegedly oversees.

Isn't that otherwise known as fiat money-- which is based on no certain value -- except the promise in its nature?

And this credit monopoly which was created to give us a flexible monetary system has made a few in its power structure wealthy while they enjoy unseemly profits at our expense with fractionalized banking etc.

Have you read "The Creature from Jeckyl Island?"

The Federal Reserve does NOT set interest rates. They execute interest rates. AKA Take money out and put money into the economy. They act as a bank for banks. They make money by clearing checks and printing money.

However, everytime they print money without destroying the same amount, they create inflation. Every single bill or coin costs about 4 cents to make and they are not paid using taxes. They must cover their own costs. It's a difficult thing to keep in balance especially when twin towers collapse in the financial district.(I recently visited the Federal Reserve) Any other questions?

how can you type and do that at the same time?

    if they're grandkids, I'm jealous

if they're your kids, I'm not. those little boogers will wear you out if you have them 24/7, but for a few hours at time, they are golden. I'm glad to have raised mine, and look forward to grandkids. kids are great.

Ever notice how concise my commentary seems to be?! :)

No, they are my kids: 2, 4, 17 and 19 (one son).

I haven't finished a book in a couple of years, at least.
