Take an unknown athletic looking black guy to a court that is full of white people in the U.S. and let them start picking teams. You can bet that the black guy will be picked fairly high.

Take an unknown athletic white player to a court full of black guys in the U.S. and he will likely be one of the last players picked.

If we are willing to take off our political correctness badge for just a minute then I think we can all agree that this is true. So is it really racism from both black and whites against whites? Or is it just a perception that our country has as a whole that black people are superior basketball players on a grand scale.

I definitely think that the perception is that black people are better all around athletes and basketball players by the vast majority of our country.

So whats my point...Charley Rosen, Bill Simons and Dick Vitale are all white but all just as guilty of the same racist perceptions as CB4 and Kenny Smith.

Maybe a better discussion is why that perception exists...and it definitely does...and is it an accurate perception.

Crash. . . . I thinke Dick Vitale's problems with Yao was that he did not goto Duke
    If the person didn't goto Duke . . . or a 'lesser' ACC school . . Dick ain't really
    that interested.

Re-writing the Collective Bargain Agreement (for Bird) and being the top All-Star vote getter as a semi-productive rookie (Ming) doesn't help. Also, didn't Bird make some nutty (although "well-meaning") comment a couple of years back about the NBA needing more white players?

Yao's accomplishments at the highest level of BB competition shatter the convenient stereotypical view (held by Americans) of the Chinese----dimunitive in statue, bookish and not athletic.

Charley Rosen, Bill Simons CB4 and Kenny Smith are in a state of denial, stubbonly holding on to their prejudiced view of the Chinese. They have difficulties accepting realities which counter their belief.

Dick Vitale's prejudice is that anyone who is not from Duke or the ACC conference can't be good. he was so pissed that Duke J William was not drafted #1, he declaure that Yao will be the second coming of LaRue Martin. What a fool

Comments are pretty on the mark. Any Chinese guy who's ever played ball at a Black playground knows this going in. If you stand up to it and overcome it, you get respected, if not, then go home. Blacks get faced with prejudice when they go into an Asian store, Asians get prejudged when we goto a Black playground. That's just how it is, you won't hear any complaints from me.

Dear Charles Barkley & Kenny Smith,

Please stop oppressing Yao Ming with your hate crimes.

    Thanks,

    Deji
